Namaste!
I started my relationship with Yoga when I was sick back in the second half of 2004. I had serious sinusintis to the extent that I found it hard to focus on work as my energy level was low. Every morning when I woke up, you could hear me sneezing continuously. The worse thing was I kept having non-stop running nose. It made me embarassing especially when I was interviewing my auditees.
I consulted ENT specialist, but what he gave me was just pills and nose spray. Eventually, he proposed me to go for nose surgery to suck out my mucus. I remembered I prayed to Guan Yin Goddess at that time for advice. Consequently, I did not go for surgery, instead I signed up for a 5 year VIP membership at True Yoga Centre in Singapore. It was like a drama! After the prayers, I was so depressed with my situation. As I was walking on the street at Orchard Road, I saw a super big banner “True Yoga” hanging at the building. I vividly recalled my mum and dad doing headstand when I was really young. I also recalled seeing my mum’s yoga book showing various kinds of yoga poses in Mandarin. YESSS…that’s Yoga right?? Ancient practice from India…sounds mystical! Instinctively, my heart said, “Let’s call the consultant and find out more about Yoga!” That’s how I ended up joining the yoga club for 5 years without having attended any trial classes.
I started going for yoga classes almost daily after work. During weekends, I went for a few classes. Initially, I found it difficult to do a lot of poses because of my stiff body. I was so tensed most of the time. The more practice I did, the more flexibility and strength I gained. After 6 months of learning and practice, my sinusintis has come under control and my energy level has boost up amazingly. I just cound not believe it! What have I done? Actually, there were no specific poses that fixed my health issue. It’s the whole yoga practice that consisted of asana, breathing, and deep relaxation! My nose sinusintis was not limited to nose and lung issue. It was caused by the weakening immune system as a result of stressful lifestyle.
