About Ms.Nava - Founder of Nava's Zen
Ms. Nava Krishnan's story is truly inspiring. From starting her working life at a young age to becoming a senior lecturer, she has accomplished a lot in her career. However, her journey has not been without challenges. Health issues, the loss of loved ones, and personal struggles have all tested her resilience. But through it all, she has found solace in yoga, which has helped her rebuild her life and conquer her challenges.

Ms. Nava's story is a testament to the power of perseverance and determination. She has overcome obstacles and taken control of her life, even when things seemed impossible. As the founder of Nava's Zen, she brings her expertise and qualifications in yoga and wellness to help others find their own path to inner peace and well-being.

"Healing Begins at Home"
Healing has become the buzzword of modern living. We heal for different reasons, and others do not need to know those reasons specifically.

For those who prefer to heal quietly, and for those seeking to soothe the breath, body, mind, and soul, nothing comes close to nature.

Nature outdoors, and not forgetting nature indoors.

Indoor plants are not only part of interior décor, but they also enliven the surroundings.

They bring a touch of Mother Earth and can be placed almost anywhere , from the living room to the bathroom and even the kitchen. They bring freshness, oxygen, and a soothing effect to the senses.

Nature is also the core concept of Nava’s Zen, from the outdoors to the indoors, creating a grounded and calming space that feels close to Mother Earth.

Add potted plants indoors and let us contribute towards eco-friendly and sustainable living while also preserving Mother Earth.

“Ikan Sambal Ijo/Fish Green Sambal”
Maybe not 100% the Indonesian style, sort of tweeted recipe.

Ingredients
Fish
Slice fish, add turmeric powder & salt.

Green Sambal (Blend)
Green chillies
Shallots
Tomato
Roasted Belacan

Lets Cook
Fry fish & remove.
Reduce the amount of oil.
Add sambal paste & fry till aromatic.
Tip in fish, add salt.
Stir in.
Off the heat.
Add kaffir lime leaves & stir in.

Ball yoga is a reminder that mobility, stability, balance, strength, and toning are not only found in the gym or through heavy exercise equipment.

Using a simple exercise ball, the same benefits can be achieved, but in a softer, more flowing approach without compromising results.

It brings fitness, workout, and even exercise into something more uplifting, lively, and accessible.

At first glance, it may look easy, but the energy, control, and body awareness involved are very much active and engaging.

“Sambal Terung Senang/Easy Brinjal Sambal”
One of my favorites at Malay stalls, made in my kitchen today.
So effortless, but big in flavours, using a few ingredients.

Let’s Cook
2 brinjals -sliced, mixed with some turmeric powder & salt.
4 Red chllies & 3 shallots - pound roughly
Calamansi lime/limau kasturi
Bunga kantan/torch ginger - optional
Oil
Salt

Cooking
Fry brinjal in oil, remove.
Reduce the amount of oil.
Add pounded chillies & shallots.
Lightly fry.
Tip in brinjal, season with lime & salt.
Add torch ginger, stir & dish out.

"Low-Impact Zumba by 62 Year Old Ms Nava"
Another feather added to my existing credentials. This time, at 62, I obtained my Zumba certification two months ago to conduct Zumba sessions.

As always, it is a slow start, and I’m proud to have three participants in my sessions. It is a meaningful beginning, one that will grow over time.

At Nava’s Zen, we intentionally keep our sessions small, within 6 to 8 people, allowing for privacy and more personal attention. Small means big for us, and we truly value our small-group concept.

Our sessions focus on low-impact Zumba, combining dance and fitness. Suitable for beginners and those who prefer gentler movements, without straining the knees or leaving you feeling drained.

For those who prefer a smaller setting but are unable to attend in person, online sessions are also available. If this resonates with you, you know what to do. Reach out to us.

Another food trip to Nasi Ulam Ikan Bakar, much earlier at 11am to beat the lunch time crowd.

Their specialty indeed is the various types of ikan bakar, whether the sambal type or the plain grilled version, paired with three to four types of spicy dips.

Alongside the usual lunch spread, there are also various types of dishes, and the ulam (raw salads) worth mentioning.

Our pick:
Bawal hitam sambal grilled
Prepacked boiled fish, steamed vegetables, quail eggs & chilli dip
Rice, masak lemak telur/egg coconut milk stew & vegetable/petula stew
Rice, masak lemak telur/egg coconut milk stew & kerabu kacang botol/winged beans salad

Water is free of charge.

Overall, a worthy traditional Malay meal (RM42.00) in a traditional setup. It definitely feels like a back to kampung/village style food delight.
