Sahasra Yoga Retreat – A Journey Within..
Sahasra Yoga Retreat was held at Sebayu Retreat Gopeng from 10th to 12th April 2026.
The location itself was truly breathtaking—nestled between mountains, surrounded by lush greenery, with misty early mornings and vibrant sunrises and sunsets that naturally lifted our energy and brought a deep sense of serenity.
Our days began as early as 5:30am with yoga practice, pranayama, and meditation. One of the most powerful aspects of the retreat was the daily 30 minutes of silence—no communication, no gadgets, just being with ourselves.
This silence allowed us to turn inward, reflect deeply on our lives, and reconnect with our true nature. In the midst of our busy routines and constant interactions, silence becomes essential. It has the power to transform our energy in the right direction—guiding us from being purely mind-driven to becoming more heart-centered.
We also had enriching two-hour yoga study sessions focused on the Pancha Pranas, Chakras, and Pancha Koshas, and how they influence our body and mind. Through guided pranayama and asana practices, we explored ways to bring balance to these subtle energies.
We reflected on the teachings of Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, specifically Sutras 1.15 and 1.16 on Vairagyam (detachment), drawing insights from the book Making Patanjali Palatable by Manoj Kaimal, based on Sage Vyasa’s commentary. These teachings gave us a deeper understanding of letting go and cultivating inner freedom.
Evenings were equally fulfilling, with yoga asana sessions followed by moments of relaxation at the swimming pool. Early dinners were followed by heartfelt sharing sessions, where participants opened up about their yoga journeys. These moments were deeply touching, and I will cherish them as a reminder to continue giving my best to all.
It was wonderful to see new participants experiencing their first retreat and truly enjoying the process. Their openness and enthusiasm added a beautiful energy to the group.
The final day was filled with joy and laughter through fun, yoga-inspired games like yoga musical chairs. We concluded the retreat with a gratitude practice and a symbolic letting-go ritual—writing down what we wished to release and burning it, allowing ourselves to feel lighter and renewed.
A special mention to the wonderful team at the resort, especially Manager Agnes, for their warmth and support. The chef’s creativity with the vegetarian spread was truly appreciated, especially as it was their first time hosting a yoga retreat.
As we spent these 3 days and 2 nights together, we created not just memories, but meaningful connections. On the final day, we said our goodbyes with cheerful hearts, returning home with rejuvenated energy, clarity, and a deep sense of peace within.
