This calmness was my inspiration when I started Arunachala Yoga. In the beginning, I went big, launching a 100-days yoga transformation challenge with more than 20 women. Yoga opened doors for me to pick up light work in the form of Reiki healing. I spent the following year helping many people heal through yoga and reiki. Then I took a pause, to recalibrate from losing my mother. I kept telling myself I could not help unless I have healed.

Recently, I expanded my reach to co-facilitate a spiritual healing retreat with a very talented tarot master. I witnessed many different kinds of pain, especially unspoken ones and witnessed firsthand the masks we wear, forgetting altogether to find time to remove them to live our truth. And this is when I realized how much I healed by healing others. I also learnt that kindness may not always be reciprocated but that is also okay. Alas, such is the journey is light workers. We cannot explain how the angels of the divine work but you will know when the time comes.

So here's to anyone who needs help, to heal, I am here to hold your space. If you would like a tarot reading, do DM me to be pointed to the right direction.

Yoga is therapeutic and induces healing, when done properly, complemented by the right breathing modalities.

Now, what about yoga outdoors, surrounded by nature, with our without a mat (as in my case here)?

There certainly is a different flow of energy, especially in spaces filled with trees - big and small, air - fresh and naturally flowing and even uneven surfaces - some hard concrete or other softer grassed ones.

What does this do to you?
You lungs drink in fresh air, releasing CO2 for plants to utilize - how mutually benefiting this is
Your body is challenged to work in new spaces, where the security of 4 walls is absent
You are exposed to your surroundings and you work harder to find solitude in such vast openness.
Yet, unseen to your eyes are beautiful vibrations of the nature, nurturing you especially if you ditch your shoes to step onto the soil, letting go all that which serves you not, letting in all that charges you up.
You are elevated, in sync with the energies around you.

This is the universe's gift for today, from my yoga practice in the green 🌿

You must try it to understand the bliss it promises 💚

How much time do you spend, consciously immersed in breathing?

Does your mind come together with your breath?

Do you bring all your focus within, to your breathing mechanism? The movement of your body, your ribs, your diaphragm, your core, your nostrils and even the pores on your skin, and the stillness you experience in every inhalation and exhalation.

Pranayama in itself is the most difficult limb to master in yoga. Start with one dedicated minute and build that to become more. It is the atomic habit that paves way to more sustained habits on the long run.

There is bliss in every breath, if you stop a moment to acknowledge it and do the simple practices to consciously breathe at every possible partof your day.

'Be a meditative karm yogi!, said Brahma Kumari sister Shivani. And then she continued,' When you are meditation, you are in a state which you should bring with you when out of meditation, when in action'.

I paused and pondered at this statement for a while. That space we are at in meditation, is one that is divine, tranquil, quiet, amplified by the withdrawal of our senses. We traverse into the state of dhyana, the state where it is calm, undisturbed, focused, and simple bliss.

How can we bring this state in our actions? How do we remain in the state of meditative bliss when the environment in which our karma yoga - yoga of actions are taking place? Simple imagining this brings a warm smile within us. How beautiful life could be, if we were in such blissful states.

This is really a beautiful message, to bring that which you attain on the mat to the world beyond it. Remember, yoga isn't only about how yogic we are on the mat, but its true testament is in how we conduct ourselves as yogis in whichever role we play in our lives.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this too.

Celebrate the very beautiful vibes of Purattasi month in this glorious Anantasana, a pose of Lord Vishnu himself.

Think about your source of joy. It could be the toothless smile of your paatti or the hot idlis with Amma's vengayam chutni or even the sight of your little one at the door.

Our people are often our source of Ananta. Lest we forget.

deśa-bandhaḥ cittasya dhāraṇā

Concentration is binding the psyche to a place.

The mind is perhaps the busiest place in our bodies. It never quite stops operating, like a perpetual traffic congestion it is. Bringing that traffic to a halt is almost impossible. Yet, it is what we must strive to achieve connecting with ourselves at a deeper level.

It often can begin with becoming aware of your own breath. Dharana is also achievable by bring attention to a single point of focus. An image, a deity or in my case Arunachala.

Forget everything for a moment, freeze that traffic in your mind! Just stay in that space and observe in silence. Yes, thoughts will sneak in, acknowledge each thought yet let it go, bringing your concentration to where you seek it to be. Done once, it may be a challenge. Done often, it becomes a habit. That is the power of sadhana in achieving dharana.
