When MIMOS Berhad set out to explore new frontiers in palm oil monitoring and slope risk detection, they didn’t just want tools—they wanted bold, ground-breaking technology. And that’s exactly what the Aonic team brought to the table in a focused technical session to explore real-world applications of two drone-based technologies: DJI M3M for multispectral imaging and the DJI Zenmuse L2 for slope monitoring system.

As part of their mandate to develop national technology solutions, MIMOS is assessing both platforms for integration into advanced research on agricultural automation and environmental resilience. DJI M3M provides multispectral data for palm oil plantations, enabling precise fruit maturity assessment to support data model development and improve yield forecasting. DJI Zenmuse L2, on the other hand, offers drone-enabled terrain change detection for continuous slope monitoring—supporting early warning systems in geohazard-prone areas.

As part of the Putrajaya Smart City Plan, Aonic recently conducted a joint demonstration with KLCC Holdings and Bomba Malaysia, showcasing the capabilities of the DJI Matrice 4 drone platform for emergency response and situational awareness.

The session highlighted how drone technology can support real-time aerial surveillance, thermal imaging, and rapid deployment in high-risk zones—enhancing decision-making during fire emergencies and large-scale operations. With key stakeholders on site, the demonstration reinforced how drone solutions can be seamlessly integrated into smart city frameworks to improve public safety and operational readiness.
This collaboration marks another step in bridging advanced aerial systems with national smart city and disaster response strategies.

In the heart of Kedah’s paddy fields, Aonic recently partnered with MADA (Muda Agricultural Development Authority) to demonstrate the capabilities of the CHCNAV NX612 auto-steering system, integrated with a rice transplanter powered by SKYTRIX GNSS.

From the first pass, the results were clear—straight, consistent transplanting lines that outperformed manual steering, achieved entirely without the need for a base station. The system enabled continuous operation even during seedling reloads, eliminating the typical 5–10 minute pauses and unlocking a new level of efficiency in the field. Operators, usually tasked with both steering and reloading, were now free to focus on a single task—reducing fatigue and improving consistency.

MADA’s personnel expressed strong interest in the system’s potential, especially in light of their regular transplanter acquisitions and the need to onboard new operators each year. With steering now automated, training becomes faster and easier—making this solution not just effective, but highly scalable.

This demo highlights how precision auto-steering can transform conventional agricultural workflows—paving the way for smarter, more sustainable rice cultivation across Malaysia.
