On 15 August 2025, Sunway Clinical Research Centre (CRC), together with CSI Clinical Research, proudly celebrated Clinical Trial Awareness Day at the SunMed Convention Centre, Sunway Medical Centre, Sunway City.

The event attracted a lively crowd of staff, healthcare professionals, patients, and members of the public, all eager to learn more about the role of clinical trials in advancing healthcare. Visitors took part in engaging activities such as interactive exhibition booths and Q&A sessions, making the day both fun and informative.

One of the highlights was the launch of our very first Sunway CRC Newsletter, a heartfelt tribute to the dedication of clinical research professionals who make research possible at Sunway Medical Centre and beyond.

We were honoured to have Dato' Dr Chang Kian Meng, Consultant Haematologist & Transplant Haematologist and Vice Chair of the Sunway Medical Research Ethics Committee, introduce the concept of clinical trials to the audience. This was followed by an inspiring talk by Dr David Lee Dai Wee, Consultant Clinical Oncologist, who shared his experience in early-phase clinical trials and international multi-centre cancer studies.

To date, Sunway CRC has conducted over 75 Industry-Sponsored Trials and 149 Investigator-Initiated Research projects, reflecting our continued commitment to advancing medical research for better patient care.

This September, in conjunction with Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Sunway Medical Centre, Sunway City proudly presents an art display featuring 14 meaningful artworks created by 9 young cancer patients during their hospital journey.

Each piece was created during their hospitalisation, capturing the resilience, creativity, and hope of these young patients as they navigate their recovery.

As part of Sunway Medical Centre, Sunway City’s commitment to supporting children and families affected by cancer, the Play Specialist Programme offers therapeutic play and art sessions. These sessions provide a safe space for children to express emotions such as fear, sadness, and hope while coping with medical treatment.

On 9th September 2025, we had the privilege of hosting nearly 200 insurance agents from various agencies at SunMed Convention Centre for an engaging and insightful session.

Our Consultant Clinical Oncologists, Dr Nik Muhd Aslan Bin Abdullah and Dr David Lee Dai Wee, shared valuable perspectives on the latest advances in liver and lung cancer care—from clinical progress to the patient journey—highlighting key touchpoints from screening to survivorship.
