High blood pressure (hypertension) happens when the force of blood against your artery walls stays too high over time. It’s often called the “silent killer” because it usually has no symptoms until it causes serious health problems.

You can lower your risk and keep your numbers in a safe range through everyday habits. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴:

In Malaysia, over half a million adults are living with the “𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗣𝗹𝘂𝘀 𝗢𝗻𝗲” risk factors for heart disease. These conditions, when combined, significantly increase the likelihood of heart failure and other cardiovascular issues.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗣𝗹𝘂𝘀 𝗢𝗻𝗲:
1️⃣ Diabetes
2️⃣ Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)
3️⃣ High Cholesterol
➕ Obesity

𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄?
Smoking raises the risk of heart failure by damaging blood vessels, raising blood pressure, and increasing cholesterol.

Taking control of these risk factors can greatly improve long-term heart health and reduce the likelihood of serious health complications.

Do you get acid reflux (𝘱𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘩 𝘶𝘭𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘵𝘪) after breaking your fast? Ramadan changes your eating routine, and some habits can trigger acid reflux.

Here’s why it happens:

🍽 𝗘𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗼𝗼 𝗙𝗮𝘀𝘁: Overloading your stomach too quickly leads to excess acid production.
🍛 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: Consuming large meals at once increases pressure in your stomach and pushes acid upward.
🌶 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘆 & 𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘀: These slow digestion and irritate the stomach, worsening acid buildup.
🥤 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗸𝘀: The gas expands your stomach, causing bloating and increasing acid reflux risk.
🛌 𝗟𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗧𝗼𝗼 𝗦𝗼𝗼𝗻: Sleeping on full stomach prevents proper digestion.

Slouching, slumped shoulders, and forward head posture can take a toll on your body, causing discomfort and even long-term issues. These habits create muscle imbalances. Some muscles become weak and overstretched, while others grow tight and overworked.

𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲:

‼️ Hunching forward: Strains your neck, upper back, and may trigger tension headaches.

‼️ Slouching: Leads to back pain, poor circulation, and lower back strain.

‼️ Incorrect chair height: Can result in leg discomfort, poor circulation, and lower back issues.

‼️ Keyboard too far away: Causes shoulder and upper back tension.

‼️ Feet dangling: Results in poor circulation, leg discomfort, and lower back strain.

Fixing your posture doesn’t just reduce pain; it boosts productivity, improves circulation, and keeps your body healthy in the long run.

Health Transformation by Columbia Asia Malaysia

According to Dr Tim Armstrong from the WHO Department of Chronic Diseases and Health Promotion, Noncommunicable diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disease and diabetes account for 35 million deaths each year. And these diseases have common risk factors. By avoiding these risk factors in the first place, by preventing the risk factors, we can prevent the majority of deaths due to those diseases.

Dr Tim Armstrong believes prevention is the best answer to the problem. We can prevent these diseases by small changes in people's behaviour and lifestyle habits. The health benefits of lifestyle interventions are there, they are real, they are measured and they are cost-effective.

Columbia Asia believes in creating the right environment and facilitating them at corporates and individuals for these interventions to be effective. It’s our mission to work towards creating the right environment for our corporate clients in which their employees can make healthy choices.

We have been providing our corporate clients with a variety of wellness programs (health talks, on sight screening, events and etc.) for more than a decade now. We have evolved and now offer our Clients a more sustainable wellness initiative.
