For those going through cancer treatment, food isn’t just fuel. It’s part of your healing journey. When fighting cancer with chemo, radiation, or other treatments, the right foods can help keep your body strong.

𝗘𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘆𝗼𝘂:

✅ Fight infection
✅ Keep your energy up
✅ Protect muscle strength
✅ Manage your weight

Here’s something to keep in mind:
🍉 𝗙𝗿𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘃𝗲𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲𝘀 – Choose fruits with protective peels or rinds (like oranges, bananas, melons), and wash them thoroughly before eating.
💪 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗶𝗻 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮 – Avoid raw foods and undercooked meat such as sushi, oyster, and undercooked steak.
🌾 𝗗𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗽 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗯𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗴𝗮𝗿 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗹𝘆 – Carbohydrates and sugar fuel your brain and muscles to support your recovery.

Share these tips to help loved ones facing cancer to stay strong and nourished.

Occupational non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, depression, musculoskeletal disorders, noise-induced hearing loss, and many others can lead to increasing rates of long-term illness and absence from work, leading to 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗿𝘂𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀.

However, research shows that workplace health initiatives can reduce sick leave absenteeism and healthcare expenses.

Through the Columbia Asia Health Transformation Program, we work with organisations to identify health risks early and help to maintain steady performance across the organisation.

🤔 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘂𝘀 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹?

Yes! Protein takes longer time to digest, which means it keeps you feeling full for longer. But here’s the catch: it’s not just about eating more protein, it’s about choosing the right type and the right portion.

𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀
🍽️ Choose minimally processed proteins such as legumes, tofu, nuts, seeds, fish, and seafood.
🥩 Choose lean cuts of meat like loin and tenderloin.
🍗 Choose chicken without the skin for a leaner option.

𝗜𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗶𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿?
Even with healthy foods, portion size matters. Eating too much can make it harder to manage weight and
calories effectively.

High blood pressure (hypertension) happens when the force of blood against your artery walls stays too high over time. It’s often called the “silent killer” because it usually has no symptoms until it causes serious health problems.

You can lower your risk and keep your numbers in a safe range through everyday habits. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴:

🧂 𝗟𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗮𝗹𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲: Reduce salt and high sodium food such as soy sauce, chilli sauce, and highly processed foods.
🍌 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘂𝗺: Eat foods like bananas, avocados, and potatoes.
🏃‍♂️ 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆: Start slow, and work up to 150 minutes of aerobic activity per week.
🍷 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗵𝗼𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲: Avoid or limit alcohol to no more than 1 drink per day (for women), 2 drinks per day (for men).

In Malaysia, over half a million adults are living with the “𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗣𝗹𝘂𝘀 𝗢𝗻𝗲” risk factors for heart disease. These conditions, when combined, significantly increase the likelihood of heart failure and other cardiovascular issues.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗣𝗹𝘂𝘀 𝗢𝗻𝗲:
1️⃣ Diabetes
2️⃣ Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)
3️⃣ High Cholesterol
➕ Obesity

𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄?
Smoking raises the risk of heart failure by damaging blood vessels, raising blood pressure, and increasing cholesterol.

Taking control of these risk factors can greatly improve long-term heart health and reduce the likelihood of serious health complications.

Health Transformation by Columbia Asia Malaysia

According to Dr Tim Armstrong from the WHO Department of Chronic Diseases and Health Promotion, Noncommunicable diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disease and diabetes account for 35 million deaths each year. And these diseases have common risk factors. By avoiding these risk factors in the first place, by preventing the risk factors, we can prevent the majority of deaths due to those diseases.

Dr Tim Armstrong believes prevention is the best answer to the problem. We can prevent these diseases by small changes in people's behaviour and lifestyle habits. The health benefits of lifestyle interventions are there, they are real, they are measured and they are cost-effective.

Columbia Asia believes in creating the right environment and facilitating them at corporates and individuals for these interventions to be effective. It’s our mission to work towards creating the right environment for our corporate clients in which their employees can make healthy choices.

We have been providing our corporate clients with a variety of wellness programs (health talks, on sight screening, events and etc.) for more than a decade now. We have evolved and now offer our Clients a more sustainable wellness initiative.
