Quick tip today!

While it’s tempting to keep pushing our strong points, the body functions as a unit, and we’re only as strong as our weakest link.

Further, the standards were established not only as a marker for each individual to reach for, but also as a line beyond which the risk of injury slowly outweighs the reward of bulletproofing.

I first heard of the ‘knees out’ cue from a hit-piece on Kelly Starrett’s book ‘Becoming a Supple Leopard’. Granted it was a hit-piece, ‘knees out’ still looked safer than knee cave (dropping knees towards the centre-line when squatting), so it became my religion. This was also around the time ‘glute activation’ was considered God and so when I heard that ‘knees out’ activated the glutes more, I sold my soul.

I wanna put this out there because knee cave is still demonised (hopefully less than before), and if i could teach you something from a 3-year long injury, it’d be to learn to be comfortable playing the ‘middle ground’ when cueing.

Since I learned about foot training, I was obsessed with fixing my flat feet.

7 years later and I’ve gotten really good at faking an arch but I still don’t walk around with said arch.

I’m not convinced foot training will give you an arch, but I’m also not convinced you need an arch to be pain-free.

Train your feet regardless. Not because you need arches, but because you need strong feet.

NOW HOLD ON A SECOND

What do i mean by ‘fix’?

I mean to say the foot’s function can be trained to perform the same way an arched foot does, even without the aesthetic of an arched foot.

I’d recommend the content at as I’ve followed them for years now and they’re full of ideas you can implement.

Here’re my two cents: do what you feel works for YOU. There are many foot exercises out there. On social media, we don’t know your specific condition and the best thing we can do is convince you to give it a go. Remember that you were never meant to do ALL the exercises. Just the ones that resonate with you.

Good luck! You can always drop me a message if you want to bounce ideas!

"STOP doing deep squats"
.isn't uncommon to hear..

Several decades ago, a study was published on the effects of squatting deep compared to shallower depths. It was found that the deeper you squat, the more pressure there’ll be on your knees.

This was misinterpreted by the masses to say “squatting deep is BAD for your knees”. This would be true IF the human body could not adapt to stimulus, which we know is not true. Our biological ability to adapt to imposed demands is unparalleled.

That being said, with great pressure comes great responsibility…or something…

We must be attentive when working with greater forces on our body and over time our bodies will get stronger and allow us more freedom and peace of mind in our day to day lives.

Also Happy New Year!!!

Hanging is the best way to keep your shoulders healthy into old age

Consistent hanging over months has shown to increase and remodel the shape of your AC joint, preventing problems such as impingement and tightness in your shoulders.

Start with resting your feet on the floor and you can start with as little as 10 seconds at a time as you get used to it.

If your shoulders hurt, put more weight on your feet. Allow your shoulders to stretch as much as is comfortable.

Aim to reach a minimum of 30 seconds as a short to medium term goal, and simply challenge yourself as you get stronger over time.

Share this with someone who needs it!

I've been stupidly successful following this progression and the progress is undeniable because it's so objective. I'd highly suggest this if every other progression method confuses you.
