Most people already know that diabetes is divided into 2 types; Diabetes Type 1 & Type 2. But in fact, Diabetes has more than 2 types with different causes.

1️⃣ TYPE 1 DIABETES

This is more common in children. Insulin deficiency in the body causes type 1 diabetes. The deficiency is due to the pancreases unable to create the amount of insulin required.
CAUSES : Genetic variation is the leading cause of type 1 diabetes. A variation in HLA-DQA1, HLA-DQB1, and HLA-DRB1 genes disturbs the auto-immune system. This triggers an auto-immune response that mistakenly attacks the insulin-producing beta cells of the pancreas. Other causes are bacterial and viral infections that impact the immune system.

2️⃣ TYPE 2 DIABETES

This is caused when the body becomes resistant to insulin. Due to insulin resistance, the body cells fail to absorb blood glucose properly. This results in high blood glucose levels. A high blood glucose level signals pancreas beta cells to produce more insulin. Due to this they go weak and finally are unable to produce enough insulin.
CAUSES : Obesity, an active lifestyle and genetic factors are leading causes of high blood sugar. Due to heavyweight the pancreas beta cells grow weak and are unable to produce more glucose.

3️⃣ GESTATIONAL DIABETES

This occurs during pregnancy. This goes away after childbirth. But it is quite possible for women who suffer from gestational diabetes to have type 2 diabetes later in their life.
CAUSES : Unusual weight gain during pregnancy, Polycystic o***y syndrome are the leading cause of it.

4️⃣ MATURITY-ONSET DIABETES (MOYD)

This is maturity-onset diabetes of the young. This is a rare form of diabetes. It occurs before the age of 25. People with normal weight suffer from this condition.
CAUSES : This occurs due to hereditary factors and genetic variations.

The Diabetes Plate Method is the easiest way to create healthy meals that can help manage blood sugar. Using this method, you can create perfectly portioned meals with a healthy balance of vegetables, protein, and carbohydrates without any counting, calculating, weighing, or measuring. All you need is a plate!

1️⃣ Fill half your plate with nonstarchy vegetables.

Examples of nonstarchy vegetables including:-
Asparagus, broccoli or cauliflower, brussels sprouts, cabbage (green, red, napa, bok choy, chinese), carrots, celery, cucumber, eggplant, leafy greens such as kale, collards, mustard greens, or swiss chard, mushrooms, okra, green beans, pea pods, snow peas, and sugar snap peas, peppers such as bell peppers and hot peppers, salad greens such as lettuce, spinach, arugula, endive, and other salad mixes, squash such as zucchini, yellow squash, chayote, spaghetti squash, tomatoes and so on.

2️⃣ Fill one quarter of your plate with lean protein foods.

Examples of lean protein foods include:
• Chicken, turkey, and eggs
• Fish like salmon, cod, tuna, tilapia, or swordfish
• Shellfish like shrimp, scallops, clams, mussels, or lobster
• Lean beef cuts such as chuck, round, sirloin, flank, or tenderloin
• Cheese and cottage cheese

3️⃣ Fill one quarter of your plate with carbohydrate foods.

Examples of carbohydrate foods:
• Whole grains such as brown rice, bulgur, oats/oatmeal, polenta, popcorn, quinoa, and whole grain products (bread, pasta, tortillas)
• Starchy vegetables such as acorn squash, butternut squash, green peas, parsnips, plantain, potato, pumpkin, and sweet potato/yam
• Beans and legumes such as black, kidney, pinto, and garbanzo beans
• Fruits and dried fruit
• Dairy products like milk, yogurt, and milk substitutes (i.e. soy milk)

4️⃣ Choose water or a low-calorie drink.

Water is the best choice because it contains no calories or carbohydrates and has no effect on blood sugar. Other zero- or low-calorie drink options include:
• Unsweetened tea (hot or iced)
• Unsweetened coffee (hot or iced)
• Sparkling water/club soda
• Flavored water or sparkling water without added sugar
• Diet soda or other diet drinks

Diabetes has become one of the major health concerns of the world! The World Health Organization states that the prevalence of diabetes among adults over 18 years of age was 4.7% in the year 1980, which has nearly doubled to 8.5% in the year 2014. More than 422 million people are suffering from diabetes and 1.6 million people die due to Diabetes 🩸

In order to find out the level of your diabetes, the doctor will conduct several types of tests as below:-

1️⃣ A1C Test

The A1C test measures your average blood sugar level over the past 2 or 3 months. An A1C below 5.7% is normal, between 5.7 and 6.4% indicates you have prediabetes, and 6.5% or higher indicates you have diabetes.

2️⃣ Fasting Blood Sugar Test

This measures your blood sugar after an overnight fast (not eating). A fasting blood sugar level of 99 mg/dL or lower is normal, 100 to 125 mg/dL indicates you have prediabetes, and 126 mg/dL or higher indicates you have diabetes.

3️⃣ Glucose Tolerance Test

This measures your blood sugar before and after you drink a liquid that contains glucose. You’ll fast (not eat) overnight before the test and have your blood drawn to determine your fasting blood sugar level. Then you’ll drink the liquid and have your blood sugar level checked 1 hour, 2 hours, and possibly 3 hours afterward. At 2 hours, a blood sugar level of 140 mg/dL or lower is considered normal, 140 to 199 mg/dL indicates you have prediabetes, and 200 mg/dL or higher indicates you have diabetes.

Type 2 Diabetes

Symptoms

Signs and symptoms of type 2 diabetes often develop slowly. In fact, you can be living with type 2 diabetes for years and not know it. When signs and symptoms are present, they may include:

Increased thirst
Frequent urination
Increased hunger
Unintended weight loss
Fatigue
Blurred vision
Slow-healing sores
Frequent infections
Numbness or tingling in the hands or feet
Areas of darkened skin, usually in the armpits and neck.

Type 2 diabetes is primarily the result of two interrelated problems:

Cells in muscle, fat and the liver become resistant to insulin. Because these cells don't interact in a normal way with insulin, they don't take in enough sugar.
The pancreas is unable to produce enough insulin to manage blood sugar levels.
Exactly why this happens is unknown, but being overweight and inactive are key contributing factors.

How insulin works

Insulin is a hormone that comes from the gland situated behind and below the stomach (pancreas). Insulin regulates how the body uses sugar in the following ways:

Sugar in the bloodstream triggers the pancreas to secrete insulin.
Insulin circulates in the bloodstream, enabling sugar to enter your cells.
The amount of sugar in your bloodstream drops.
In response to this drop, the pancreas releases less insulin.

Isse in the pancreas release more insulin. Eventually these cells become impaired and can't make enough insulin to meet the body's demands.

In the less common type 1 diabetes, the immune system mistakenly destroys the beta cells, leaving the body with little to no insulin.

I pray to god, 🙏 you get well soon.
Thanks 👍

Diabetes type 1 and type 2 come from different causes: In diabetes type 1, the pancreas does not make insulin, because the body's immune system attacks the islet cells in the pancreas that make insulin. In diabetes type 2, the pancreas makes less insulin than used to, and your body becomes resistant to insulin.
