A heartfelt thank you to Madam Tan’s family for the thoughtful KFC treat for all our staff 💙 Your kindness truly warmed our hearts.

Madam Tan was admitted to our care centre in July 2024. When she first joined us, she struggled with a poor appetite and severe back pain. But over time, with care and support, we witnessed her beautiful progress — from sitting in her wheelchair, finishing her meals on her own, joining group activities, and even walking short distances.

She was always soft-spoken, kind, and cheerful — a resident who left a gentle mark in our hearts. Though Madam Tan has left us, her warmth and smile will always be remembered. 🌸

Meet Aunty Helen, one of our dementia daycare residents. When she first joined, her son only sent her 2 days a week while he went to work. In the beginning, Helen struggled. She often cried to go home, sometimes screamed, and even lay on the floor because everything felt unfamiliar.

But slowly, with patience, love, and care, things started to change. After two weeks, her son increased her visits to 3 days a week. With more consistency, Helen began adjusting to her new routine.

Now, even though she still mentions wanting to go home, she no longer throws tantrums. Instead, she sits calmly, joins activities, and waits patiently.

✨ For people with dementia, routine and a safe environment are very important. It helps them feel secure, reduces anxiety, and gives them meaningful interactions with others. ✨

On the 6th of September, we witnessed history at Avenue Medihome — the convocation of "Assistant Nurse Advancement Scheme 2025", our very first batch of staff graduating as Assistant Nurses. 🌿 From Care Assistants to proudly wearing the title of Assistant Nurse, this milestone marks not just a new position, but a journey of growth, dedication, and resilience.

🗣 Building Stronger Teams, Brick by Brick 🏠

At Avenue Medihome, caring for residents goes beyond providing daily assistance — it’s about working together as one team.

We recently conducted a special communication class for our staff to learn and practise effective communication skills.
In one of the activities, a “house” was built using only verbal instructions — one person gave directions, while the other listened and assembled the pieces. This fun yet challenging exercise reminded us that clear, respectful, and accurate communication is the foundation of teamwork.
