HAPPY BIRTHDAY AL-MUBARAK PROF DR MALIK BADRI, FATHER OF ISLAMISATION OF MODERN PSYCHOLOGY - 16 FEB 1932

Below is the du'a that I dedicate to him every year since 2007.

---

In the name of Allah the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate

Praise be to Allah who created our souls and bodies and give guidance for our behaviour, cognition, and emotion - the central study of psychology.

Salawat and Salam to Prophet Muhammad, the best soul of all, who have shown us the best model of behaviour, cognition and emotion, and have shown us the Islamic way to behave, think and feel.

Salawat and Salam to his family members and his Companions, who are the living products of Prophetic psychospiritual intervention for behavioural, cognitive and emotional changes.

Salawat and Salam to all of those who aims to describe, predict, understand, and control behaviour, cognition and emotion - with Your permission - to fulfill their roles of Your servants and Your vicegerents. We pray that we are among this group too.

O Allah. We are here to honour Prof. Malik Badri, our teacher/murabbi, as a "Malik" or King of Islamisation of contemporary Psychology.

O Allah. Bless the soul, the behaviour, the cognition, and the emotion of our beloved Prof. Malik Badri. He had played the role just like Malaikat Malik who guards the Hellfire. He had saved us from the "hellfire" of secular psychology, guarded us from being thrown back in "hellfire" of Freudian psychoanalysis, Watsonian and Skinnerian behaviourism, Rogerian humanism, physiological perspective, and evolutionary perspective. He is indeed like a " guardian angel" to us. O Allah, raise his soul so that it is higher than the level of mala'ikah.

O Allah, bless the soul, the behaviour, the cognition and the emotion of our beloved Prof. Malik Badri. He had played the role just like Imam Malik RH who had taught `ilm al-fiqh and produced excellent students such as Imam Shafi`i RH and excellent students of students like Imam Ahmad RH - both of them are mujtahid mustaqil or independent mujtahid. We pray to you that Prof. Malik Badri, as an independent psychological "mujtahids" will produce Imam Shafi`is among us who are also independent psychological "mujtahid" (i.e. able to produce original Islamic-scientific psychological theories), not just muqallid (i.e. blind followers of Prof. Malik Badri's specific ideas); and not just mujtahid madhab (i.e. psychological researchers who do not produce any Islamic-scientific theories); and not just mujtahid muntasib (i.e. only produce sub-theories of Prof. Malik Badri's psychological theories). And we pray that among our students also, there are Imam Ahmads who are also independent psychological "mujtahid" who can construct new Islamic-scientific theories in all areas of basic and applied psychological disciplines. O Allah, reward Prof. Malik Badri for all his efforts in spreading Islamic psychological knowledge, and producing knowledgeable Muslim scholars in the field of psychology.

O Allah, bless the soul, the behaviour, the cognition and the emotion of our beloved Prof. Malik Badri. Just like his name Badri (from the word Badr), he had won for us the first most crucial "psychological Battle of Badr" with secular Psychology with his book "The Dilemma of Muslim Psychologist" which without it, most probably, no effort will be given to Islamise the knowledge in a specific discipline of psychology. Prof. Malik Badri had also won for us several other "battles of Uhud and Khandaq" with his other books like the AIDS Crisis and The Contemplation; plus had won for us various "sarayah" (small battles) with his various conference papers.

We pray that one we day will reach the stage of "Hudaybiyyah treaty" where Islamic Psychology and secular psychology will be on par with each other. And we pray that one day we will reach the stage of "Fath al-Makkah" or Opening of Makkah stage where Islamic psychology achieves full victory against secular psychology, at least in its theoretical sense. And we pray that we will reach the stage of spreading the Islamic Psychology to the East and the West just like Prophet Muhammad had spread Islam to Persia and Rome and bring Mercy to all humans and the universe.

All these started from the effort of Prof Malik Badri in the first "psychological Badr war". So Allah: bless be to the pioneering effort of Prof. Malik Badri. And we pray that we will also be included in the pioneering generations of al-Sabiqun al-Awwalun min al-Muhajirin wa Al-Ansar. Al-Muhajirin or the early Migrators to the Islamisation of Psychology activities and Al-Ansar the Helpers in Islamisation of Psychology activities who struggle together since the early stages of Islamisation of psychology.

O Allah. Just like his name Badr or full moon, bless Prof. Malik Badri with Your Nur (hidayah), and let us benefit from his Nur ('ilm) for our own jihad/struggle to Islamise the soul, the behaviour (Islam), the cognition (iman), and the emotion (ihsan) of human being.
Amin Ya Rabb al-`Alamin.

Happy Birthday Al-Mubarak Prof Malik. It's an honour to share the same birthdate and be able to celebrate it together on 16 Feb every year.

P.S. Prof Malik is now residing in Istanbul, Turkey.
