Life After Cancer: Challenges Women Face as Survivors🎗️

Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, one of Malaysia’s first female doctors, wife of the fourth and seventh Prime Minister and a lifelong advocate for public health, has spent decades championing women’s well-being.But behind the public accolades lies a deeply personal story, her own battle with breast cancer.

In HPM’s latest publication, she reflects on life after remission, shedding light on the emotional weight, quiet resilience and social challenges many women face long after treatment ends.

This feature explores the overlooked side of survivorship where healing is ongoing, strength is often silent and the path forward is shaped not just by medicine, but by support, understanding and dignity.

Her story is a reminder that surviving cancer is not the end of the journey, it’s the beginning of a new one.🌱

Report on Cancer Patients Home Visit Project💌

Over these two days, HER Priority successfully conducted home visits to 30 B40 cancer patients across Johor to ensure they received the medical care, emotional support and companionship they needed. Beyond providing assistance, this initiative focused on meaningful conversations and reassurance to remind them that they are not alone in their battle against cancer.🩺

More than just a visit, we took the time to listen to their stories, understand their challenges, hopes and resilience. Through these interactions, we also identified language barriers among elderly patients, which often prevent them from seeking timely medical care. Moving forward, HER Priority aims to address this issue and work towards more accessible healthcare solutions.

During this initiative, we assessed patients’ needs and provided social assistance, along with essential medical supplies, such as colostomy bags and tracheostomy tubes for cancer patients. We also conducted ground medical assessments and verification on patients detailed, prognosis, treatment and socioeconomic status and recorded key observations to ensure they receive the necessary follow-up care from hospitals. Although we encountered some challenges during the home visits that made it difficult to contact a few patients, the majority of our outreach was successful.

We sincerely appreciate MAKNA for collaborating with us to make this initiative possible. HER Priority remains committed to supporting the cancer patient community with care and compassion as well as advocating for women’s healthcare.

Through genuine connections and small acts of kindness, we hoped to bring strength and hope to those in need. Inspired by these experiences, we are reminded of the power of compassion and the role of youth in driving meaningful change.

Together, we strive for a more inclusive and caring society.❤️⭐️

Regular screenings might not be glamorous, but they’re one of the smartest investments we can make in our health.

A quick check-up today can catch issues early before they become more serious, more stressful, and harder to treat. Whether it’s a pap smear, breast exam, or basic blood work, these small acts of prevention play a big role in protecting women’s health. They offer peace of mind, early answers, and sometimes even save lives. 💊🌱

If you’ve been meaning to book your screening, take this as a gentle reminder: your health is worth the time.

When was your last health screening?

🩸Her Soul x Her Priority Menstrual Health Workshop

Date: 22 June 2025
Location: Amitabha Foundation Children Home Johor

On 22 June 2025, HerSoul and HerPriority jointly facilitated a menstrual health education workshop for girls aged 12 to 17 at the Amitabha Foundation Children Home. This initiative aimed to strengthen menstrual literacy, promote hygienic practices and reduce stigma surrounding menstruation, particularly among underprivileged youth.

The workshop covered the structure and function of the female reproductive system, the physiology of the menstrual cycle and hormonal regulation, best practices in menstrual hygiene and product use, common misconceptions and cultural taboos surrounding menstruation, pain management strategies and lifestyle recommendations, scenario-based discussions and peer dialogue session to deepen understanding.📚🌱

Each participant received a comprehensive menstrual care package, which included:
* Superbklean sanitary pads and pantyliners (sponsored by )
* Libresse pads ()via fundraising
* Wet wipes
* A menstrual health education brochure (MHO)
* Supplementary reading materials curated by HerSoul
* Motivational Cards

⭐️every single girls received 60 absorbent items (sanitary pads and pantyliners)

The workshop not only addressed knowledge gaps but also created a safe environment for the girls to engage in honest conversation about menstruation. Several participants reported gaining a clearer understanding of their bodies and expressed increased confidence in managing their menstrual health and supporting their peers.

This workshop marks another milestone in our long-term commitment to advancing menstrual equity and health literacy. In the coming months, we aim to expand our outreach to additional orphanages and underserved communities across Johor.🇲🇾

We extend our sincere appreciation to Me**es Health Organisation () and all contributing donors whose support made this session possible.❤️💐🩸

Her Priority Malaysia (HPM) Relief Effort for Puteri Wangsa Flood Victims

📅Date: 14th & 21st April 2025

🫂Assistance Provided To: Residents of Puteri Wangsa, Johor (Flood-Affected Area)

📍Location: Pusat Khidmat DUN Puteri Wangsa, Johor

In response to the devastating floods that struck Johor, Her Priority Malaysia (HPM) stepped forward to support the relief efforts. We collaborated with YB Puan Amira Aisya () of MUDA () and donated essential supplies to Pusat Khidmat DUN Puteri Wangsa, aiding her tireless efforts to help affected families rebuild their lives.

Among the items we contributed were kettles, irons, cooking essentials, ovens, vacuum cleaners, tablewares, mattresses, clothes, blankets and pillows. All aimed at helping families restore a sense of comfort, safety and basic health standards after the tragedy. Access to clean living conditions and basic household necessities are vital to ensuring the well-being of survivors and preventing the spread of disease.

This initiative was led by Janne Jin, our director, whose dedication and hard work made this possible. We are grateful for her leadership and for the opportunity to stand in solidarity with the Johor community.💖💐✨

We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to YB Puan Amira Aisya 💖 for her recognition of our efforts and for allowing us to be a part of this vital mission! Her leadership and dedication are truly inspiring and we are grateful to have been able to contribute to her ongoing work for the community.❤️🇲🇾

Her Priority Malaysia remain deeply committed to promoting health, dignity and resilience, whether by supporting women through health challenges or standing with communities in times of urgent need.

HPM Volunteer Diary⭐️- Health and Development Pop-Up Camp

Volunteering is not about what you give, but what you discover in yourself. When you see the difference you‘ve made in someone’s life, you realise every effort was worth it.

At Her Priority, we will strive harder to ensure better healthcare for more women and marginalised communities by prioritising their needs and well-being.❤️🌟🪷

Empowering young girls🪷

At Pertubuhan Kebajikan Cheng En, we observed that initially, the girls felt shy or embarrassed discussing their menstrual cycles and often felt ashamed or hesitant to carry sanitary products openly. However, with gradual guidance and open conversations, they gained confidence and a better understanding of their bodies and how to take care of their health.☺️

Looking ahead, HER PRIORITY strives to enhance women’s healthcare by organising free health and cancer screening sessions. This initiative aims to raise awareness and encourage early detection of health issues within the community to support our belief that every woman deserves to be healthy.
