"🎉 World Stroke Day at Hospital Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah UPM 🎉

We’re excited to celebrate World Stroke Day and our recognition as an Advanced Stroke Center by the World Stroke Organization (WSO)! 🏥💙

Hospital Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah (HSAAS) received the Advanced Stroke Center certification from the World Stroke Organization (WSO), making it one of the first hospitals in Southeast Asia to earn this recognition. Alongside HSAAS, other certified centers include Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM) at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and Rumah Sakit Pusat Otak Nasional (RSPON) in Jakarta. These centers meet high standards for stroke care, covering advanced treatment, specialized teams, and comprehensive recovery support.

A huge thank you to Dato’ Indera Dr. Nor Azimi Yunus, Deputy Director General of Health Malaysia and Dr Sapiah Sapuan Head of Neurology Service MOH, for officiating the event today. Their presence highlights how critical stroke care is becoming in Malaysia. With stroke being the 3rd leading cause of death in our country, we hope this recognition helps elevate the importance of stroke care and ensures it gets the priority it truly deserves.

💡 Remember: Every second counts during a stroke. Knowing the signs can save lives. Use the B.E.F.A.S.T. rule to recognize the symptoms of a stroke:

B – Balance: Sudden loss of balance or coordination

E – Eyes: Blurred or double vision, or sudden vision loss

F – Face: Drooping on one side of the face

A – Arms: Weakness or numbness in one arm

S – Speech: Slurred or confused speech

T – Time: Time to call emergency services immediately!

Ahli Komuniti Yang Dihormati,

Kami ingin memakluman bahawa, sambutan untuk pendaftaran secara maya Karnival Sambutan Hari Sedunia 2023 adalah sangat memberasangkan. Sepanjang minggu ini kami telah berjaya mencapai had pendaftaran sebanyak 500 orang. Dengan itu segala pendaftaran awal aktiviti di bawah payung Karnival Sambutan Hari Sedunia kami secara rasminya ditutup. Untuk pengetahuan semua, pendaftaran secara “walk-in” masih dibuka namun slot penyertaan adalah sangat terhad oleh kerana faktor logistic dan keselesaan pengunjung. Pengunjung secara “walk-in” masih boleh melawat pameran-pameran kesihatan kami dan gerai-gerai penaja kami pada hari karnival. We are glad to inform you that we have received massive participation and interest in our World Stroke Day Carnival throughout this week. We have hit the 500 threshold for participant registration and therefore, further online registration for all activities are officially closed. But do not feel discouraged as walk-in registration is still accepted during the day of the event. However we would like to remind you that the number of slots available are limited due to logistic limitations. Walk-in participants can still visit our health awareness, sponsor and commercial booths as usual during the carnival day. We are trully honoured by this immense interest and support for this awareness campaign.
