39-year-old man takes own life

A 39-YEAR-OLD man, identified as Dauma Goraseb, took his own life on Sunday morning.

According to the police, the incident happened at a house in Kaap en Bou location, Omulunga, Grootfontein.

The police revealed that the deceased was found hanging from a rope in his room, and a su***de note was found next to his body.

His body was transported to Grootfontein State Hospital, where he was declared dead by a medical doctor. His next of kin have been informed.

Individuals experiencing mental distress, including self-harm thoughts, are encouraged to seek help. Free and confidential support is available by contacting 116 or 106, a primary crisis hotline that operates 24/7.

Two take their own lives over past weekend

TWO individuals are reported to have taken their own lives.

According to the weekend crime bulletin, on Saturday, 20 September 2025, during the night at Bunya village, Kavango West Region, it is alleged that Haihengo Meichoir, a 25-year-old Namibian male, hanged himself with a rope.

It is alleged that the deceased returned home under the influence of alcohol the previous night and entered the room where their five-year-old Namibian female minor daughter was sleeping.

It is further alleged that the mother walked into the room and found the deceased half-naked, and she also noticed their daughter undressed. A physical fight is said to have broken out between the two, and the deceased’s father separated them. The mother allegedly threatened to open a case against the deceased before going to sleep in another hut. The next morning, the deceased’s lifeless body was discovered hanging from the roof of his hut. No foul play was suspected, and his next of kin were informed. Police investigations continue.

In another incident, on the same date, 20 September, around 07:00 at Oukwa waNanyanga Location, it is alleged that Mwatile Valombola, an Angolan male adult, hanged himself with a steel wire from a tree. It is alleged that the deceased had attempted to commit su***de in the past. No foul play was suspected, and no su***de note was left behind. His next of kin were informed, and police investigations continue.
