I am so excited about this year and all its opportunities.

Let's make 2023 count!

My advise for this year is; PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN TREATMENT

What is the one thing we often take for granted, but if we no longer have we regret not taking action?

GOOD HEALTH

Good health is something we often neglect or take for granted until a condition is diagnosed. Thus my advice, take action and prioritize your health.

Start prioritizing your health in 2023!
While some factors are out of our hands, you will be amazed at what you can control and the enormous positive effect it can have on your health.

My wishes for you in 2023:
🥑 Set realistic achievable goals
🥕 Create healthy sustainable habits
🥭 Change your lifestyle, not just your diet
🥦 Realize that each journey is different
🧀 Remember that your journey should never be a punishment, it should be enjoyed
🍕 Your health should be celebrated
🫑 To always make changes that you are comfortable with and can enjoy

What is necessary to be healthy?
A healthy person is one who can serve himself, the nation and the community. It is someone that can perform his daily activities the correct way, without struggling due to weakness or disease.

Here is my 5 points on what is necessary to be healthy:
- Eat a healthy diet that contributes to a
healthy lifestyle
- Be active- Get moving!
- Avoid substance abuse that increase risk
of disease
- Get enough sleep, allow your body to
recharge
- Live a balanced life

The biggest key to living a healthy life is CONSISTENCY!

It’s not the one thing that you do that is great or bad, but what you do on a regular basis every day.

Live in combination, live in balance.

Robust Nutriment Dietetics making health easy for you!

We hear the word health so often whether it is in conversations, commercials, food labels, articles, radio talks or social media posts, but do we actually know or understand where it comes from and what it means?

What is health?
According to the World Health Organisation health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. WWHAATT!?!
Why is my dietitian then talking about health? Where does food even fit?

Food has a direct and/or indirect effect on all three pillars of health (Physical; Mental; Social)
Getting the facts and knowing how food correlates with Health:

1. Healthy Food and Physical health- healthy eating reduces our risk of developing non-communicable diseases like diabetes, heart diseases, strokes, high blood and cholesterol thus directly have an impact on our physical health. Healthy eating also nourish and provide energy for our daily activities whether it is getting out of bed, walking, thinking or exercising. Healthy well portioned food will give us a leaner, stronger body and our physique will show it! It strengthens our immune by providing all essential vitamins and minerals our immune systems need to fight off diseases. Eating the correct foods may ensure good rest and sleeping patterns and help with energy levels.
2. Healthy Food and Mental health- When we eat well, we feel good. Food can have a direct effect on our mood. That is why we created the word “hangry” when we are angry because we are actually hungry. We tend to eat more or stop eating when we are feeling sad or stressed. How we feel emotionally definitely make the calls on what we feel like eating, thus food and mood is connected. Food fuels our brain and thus it can be linked to better brain function and concentration, better brain function is linked to better grades which initially leads to better job opportunities and unlocks ones full potential.
3. Healthy Food and Social Health- when someone says social event, gathering, function or get together it 99.9% means that food will be present. Food brings people together and thus creates vegan, vegetarian, diet related communities in which the topic will be food. Sharing foods makes us feel good and brings families and friends together.
Food definitely plays key role in the three pillars of health and now you know why it is important .
