What a dark past! A past no one would want to go back at. It’s so troubled beyond imagination. My thoughts cannot handle such trauma. They curl up and cover their ears. Henties Bay is a coastal town, located about 70kms north of Swakopmund in Erongo Region, Namibia. It was named after Major Hendrik "Henty" Stefanus van der Merwe who discovered the place in 1929 while looking for water. It later developed into a holiday hideout,mainly because of the abundance of fish at this spot. (Wikipedia, 2020) Since it was mostly just a holiday hideout, there was no permanent residency in town until 1969 when Frank Atkinson permanently settled in and later followed by Willie Cilliers, in 1971.(Association, 2016) [ 695 more words ]
