🚨 A high-magnesium diet slows brain aging and reduces your dementia risk, study shows.

A new study from the Australian National University has found that a high-magnesium diet can significantly slow brain aging and reduce the risk of dementia, especially in women.

Analyzing health data from over 6,000 individuals aged 40 to 73, researchers discovered that people who consumed more than 550 mg of magnesium daily had brains that appeared almost a year younger by age 55 compared to those with lower magnesium intake.

The greatest benefits were observed in postmenopausal women, suggesting magnesium’s anti-inflammatory properties may offer heightened protection in this group.

Magnesium is abundant in leafy greens, nuts, seeds, legumes, and whole grains, and while its benefits for bone and heart health are well known, this research points to a promising role in preserving brain function. As dementia rates continue to climb globally, the findings highlight how simple dietary changes could become powerful tools in protecting cognitive health. Researchers stress the need for further studies to solidify these findings and inform future public health guidance.

Fasting triggers a biological process that fights aging and clears out cellular debris, studies show.

And the process is essential for a cell to survive and function.

Autophagy, often described as the body's internal recycling system, is crucial for keeping cells healthy and functioning optimally. It works by breaking down and repurposing damaged or nonfunctional cell components, as well as destroying harmful invaders like viruses and bacteria.

This "self-devouring" process helps prevent cellular clutter that can impair performance, especially as we age.

A decline in autophagy has been linked to cellular aging and a range of diseases, making it a key player in longevity and disease prevention.

You can stimulate autophagy through specific lifestyle changes such as fasting, calorie restriction, a ketogenic diet, or intense exercise, which stress cells into survival mode. These practices force the body to recycle internal resources for energy, activating autophagy-related proteins that carry out cellular cleanup. However, methods to trigger autophagy should be approached with caution, particularly for those with health conditions or in vulnerable life stages like pregnancy. While animal studies suggest autophagy begins after 24 to 48 hours of fasting, more human research is needed to fine-tune these insights.

Wooden cutting boards are actually *more* sanitary than their plastic counterparts.

While plastic’s non-porous nature seems like a hygienic choice, research shows that bacteria applied to wooden boards die off rapidly — over 99% within three minutes.

Bacteria on plastic surfaces? They tend to survive and even multiply.

This is partly due to the knife-induced grooves in plastic boards, which can harbor bacteria despite thorough hand-washing. In contrast, high-quality wooden boards are more resistant to deep cuts and can be more easily sanitized.

That said, what ultimately matters most is proper care and maintenance of any food prep surface.

For wooden boards, that means washing with hot, soapy water after each use, sanitizing periodically with a diluted bleach solution, and keeping the surface dry. Regularly applying food-safe oil helps maintain the integrity of the wood, preventing cracks and extending its lifespan.

Joe Tippens was given months to live. But after taking an anti-parasitic drug, PET scans revealed no detectable cancer cells.

He was cured.

Diagnosed in 2016 with terminal small-cell lung cancer and told he had only months to live, Tippens began taking fenbendazole—a drug commonly used to deworm dogs—alongside supplements like Theracurmin (a turmeric extract) and CBD oil.

Within three months, his scans showed no detectable cancer. Although his remission cannot be definitively attributed to this unconventional regimen, Tippens’s story quickly spread across online communities, igniting curiosity among both patients and practitioners.

Anecdotal reports and early preclinical research now suggest that drugs like fenbendazole, mebendazole, and ivermectin may interfere with cancer cell functions such as energy metabolism, cell division, and survival signaling.

These drugs, part of a class known as benzimidazoles, are inexpensive and widely available, further fueling their appeal. Some integrative oncologists have begun to explore these treatments with select patients, noting cases of unexpected remission. However, none of these antiparasitic drugs are FDA-approved for cancer treatment, and comprehensive clinical trials are lacking. While the stories are compelling and the science promising, experts warn that patients should consult their medical teams before experimenting with unproven protocols.

Scientists created a cream that can bring hair back — it cures baldness with just one week of use.

The age-old quest for a cure for baldness may be entering a promising new chapter, thanks to groundbreaking research from UCLA scientists.

After years of experimentation, the team has identified a molecule—dubbed PP405—that can successfully awaken dormant hair follicles. In early human trials, participants who applied the molecule topically at bedtime for just one week showed statistically significant results.

Unlike many existing treatments that produce only wispy hair, PP405 is believed to stimulate the growth of full, terminal strands.

The molecule works by inhibiting a protein that keeps follicle stem cells dormant, effectively reactivating the body’s natural hair-growing capabilities.

The breakthrough comes from a trio of UCLA researchers: William Lowry, Heather Christofk, and Michael Jung, who have co-founded a startup, Pelage Pharmaceuticals, to further develop and commercialize the treatment. With $16.4 million in backing from Google Ventures, the team is preparing for larger clinical trials and working toward FDA approval. While the treatment won’t work for everyone, it holds promise for the majority of individuals affected by hair loss, including those who lose hair due to aging, stress, genetics, or chemotherapy. As the researchers cautiously advance through regulatory hurdles, optimism is mounting that a reliable cure for baldness may finally be on the horizon.

Chronic stress doesn’t just affect your mind — it triggers real physical symptoms.

Kindness toward yourself isn't just good for your mental health. It directly affects your physical well-being, and whether there's long-term damage.

Chronic stress and anxiety can manifest in the body in troubling ways, leading to symptoms like heart palpitations, headaches, digestive issues, insomnia, and even skin breakouts.

These are more than just discomforts; they’re signals from your body that something’s out of balance.

When you're overwhelmed, it's okay to pause.

Taking time to relax—whether through deep breathing, a short walk, or simply saying no—helps reset your nervous system and lowers stress hormones. By practicing self-compassion and prioritizing rest, you’re not just nurturing your mind—you’re giving your body the care it needs to stay healthy and resilient.

This is exactly the kind of thing we should be using AI for.

This, not content creation, is the real potential of AI.

Scientists created an AI system called AsymMirai. It's a streamlined deep-learning algorithm that can detect breast cancer up to five years in advance.

Researchers at Duke University used AsymMirai to analyze differences between left and right breast tissue visible in mammograms — a factor previously underutilized for long-term cancer prediction. With this approach, the AI could achieve nearly the same accuracy as previous systems while being acutely simpler for radiologists to understand and more reliable.

The study involved over 210,000 mammograms and underscored the clinical importance of breast asymmetry in forecasting cancer risk.

Lead researcher Jon Donnelly emphasized the potential public health implications of AsymMirai, noting that its insights could shape recommendations for mammogram frequency and improve early detection strategies.
