Reasons Why Your Typhoid fever Refuses to Go:
1.) Not completing your antibiotics
Stopping treatment too early can allow the bacteria to survive and return.
2.) Wrong diagnosis
Some illnesses like malaria, stomach infections, or ulcers may look similar to typhoid.
3.) Poor hygiene and contaminated food/water
Drinking dirty water or eating contaminated food can cause repeated infection.
4.) Drug-resistant bacteria
Some typhoid bacteria no longer respond to certain antibiotics.
5.) Weak immune system
Poor nutrition, stress, or other illnesses can slow recovery.
6.) Not resting properly
The body needs enough rest to recover fully from infection.

Signs You Should See a Doctor Quickly
-Persistent high fever
-Severe stomach pain
-Blood in stool
-Continuous vomiting
-Extreme weakness
-Confusion or fainting
-Symptoms lasting many days despite treatment.

Hantavirus:
Hantavirus is a group of viruses that are mainly carried by rodents (rats and mice). Humans get infected when they come into contact with infected rodent urine, droppings, or saliva.
It can cause serious illness affecting the lungs or kidneys.

Types of Hantavirus disease
1. Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome (HPS)
Mainly affects the lungs
Common in the Americas
Can become severe and life-threatening quickly
2. Hemorrhagic Fever with Renal Syndrome (HFRS)
Mainly affects the kidneys and blood vessels
Common in Europe and Asia.

How it spreads:
-Inhaling dust contaminated with rodent droppings or urine
-Direct contact with infected rodents
-Rarely through rodent bites.

Symptoms:
Early symptoms:
✔️Fever
✔️Fatigue
✔️Muscle aches
✔️Headache
✔️Dizziness

*_Reasons why most people die of Malaria_* :

1. Late treatment or no treatment
When malaria is not treated early, the parasites multiply rapidly in the blood, leading to severe complications such as organ failure.

2. Severe anaemia
The parasite destroys red blood cells, causing severe anaemia. This reduces oxygen delivery to vital organs and can lead to collapse or death, especially in children and pregnant women.

3. Cerebral malaria
The parasites can block blood flow in the brain, leading to seizures, coma, and death.

4. Organ failure
Severe malaria can damage the liver, kidneys, and lungs, leading to multiple organ failure.

5. Low immunity (vulnerable groups)
Children under 5 years, pregnant women, and people with weak immune systems are more likely to develop severe disease.

6. Drug resistance or incorrect treatment
Resistance to antimalarial drugs or misuse of medications can make the infection harder to treat effectively.

7. Severe dehydration and metabolic complications
High fever, vomiting, and sweating can lead to dehydration and electrolyte imbalance, worsening the condition.

𝐀𝐥𝐥 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐃𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐞 𝐕𝐢𝐫𝐮𝐬 :

Definition:
Dengue virus (DENV) is a mosquito-borne RNA virus that causes dengue fever, a major tropical disease.
It belongs to the Flaviviridae family and is transmitted mainly by the Aedes aegypti mosquito.

Classification & Types:
Genus: Flavivirus
Genome: Single-stranded positive-sense RNA.
4 serotypes:
DENV-1
DENV-2
DENV-3
DENV-4
👉 Infection with one serotype gives lifelong immunity to that type only, but not the others.

Transmission:
-Spread through bites of infected female Aedes mosquitoes
Mosquito bites an infected person → virus multiplies → mosquito infects another person
Common in tropical and subtropical regions (like Nigeria)

Pathogenesis (How it causes disease):
-Virus enters bloodstream → infects immune cells (monocytes/macrophages)
-Causes viremia (virus in blood)
-In secondary infection with a different serotype, Antibody-dependent enhancement occurs → higher risk of severe disease

Clinical Features:
1. Uncomplicated Dengue (Dengue Fever)
Sudden high fever
Severe headache
Retro-orbital (behind the eyes) pain
Muscle & joint pain (“breakbone fever”)
Nausea, vomiting
Skin rash
2. Severe Dengue
Includes:
Dengue hemorrhagic fever
Dengue shock syndrome
Warning signs:
Abdominal pain
Persistent vomiting
Bleeding (gums, nose, skin)
Fluid accumulation
Low platelet count
Shock (dangerous drop in blood pressure)

Diagnosis:
NS1 antigen test (early stage)
PCR (detects viral RNA)
Serology (IgM, IgG antibodies)
Full blood count:
↓ Platelets (thrombocytopenia)
↑ Hematocrit (hemoconcentration)

Treatment:
✔️ No specific antiviral drug
✔️Supportive care:
-Fluid replacement (very important)
-Paracetamol for fever
🚫 Avoid NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen, aspirin) → risk of bleeding
✔️Close monitoring for complications

Prevention:
✅Control mosquito breeding:
-Remove stagnant water
Use:
-Insecticide-treated nets
-Repellents
-Protective clothing
-Community sanitation.

Fibroids are common, non-cancerous growths that develop in or around the uterus, especially in women of reproductive age.
Although many women may not experience symptoms, fibroids can sometimes cause issues such as heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, and fertility challenges.
Understanding fibroids is important for early detection and proper management, helping women maintain their reproductive health and overall well-being.
