❌ Myth 1: HIV is a death sentence.
✅ Reality: While this was once true early in the epidemic, advances in antiretroviral therapy (ART) mean that progression to stage 3 HIV (AIDS) can be prevented, and individuals on treatment can live long, healthy lives.

❌ Myth 2: You can tell someone has HIV by their appearance.
✅ Reality: People with HIV on effective treatment often look and feel healthy and show no visible symptoms.

❌ Myth 3: HIV can be transmitted through casual contact.
✅ Reality: Transmission is only possible through specific bodily fluids — blood, semen, vaginal fluids, rectal fluids, and breast milk. It is not transmitted through hugging, shaking hands, sharing utensils, or touching a toilet seat.

❌ Myth 4: People with HIV can’t have children.
✅ Reality: With the right medical care and by maintaining an undetectable viral load during pregnancy and delivery, the risk of transmission to the baby can be less than 1%.
