EXCESSIVE VOMITING IN PREGNANCY

Good day my esteemed audience!!
Pregnancy is a wonderful experience and almost every woman looks forward to the experience, but sometimes certain symptoms make the voyage of pregnancy unpalatable.
One of such symptoms is nausea & vomiting. It affects about 70-80% of all pregnancies but most times it is not a serious matter.
However, in about 3% of pregnancy, the vomiting becomes so serious that it affects the woman in many ways. It can affect her nutrition, body metabolism and affects the baby's wellbeing eventually.
Such severe symptoms are more in multiple pregnancies or molar pregnancies.
The treatment is essentially supportive with fluid and electrolytes. The use of medications such as phenergan may be helpful.
Early presentation to your Obstetrician will help manage the condition and make your pregnancy experience a memorable one
