A very serious guy who was always worried about being dull at school approached me and said he wanted to study with me during my study time. I accepted and we studied together.
I then later discovered that he could not read and understand written texts. I offered to help and started teaching him.
I used those lessons as an opportunity to grasp some of the things I had missed during school lessons. The sessions prepared me well for final exams that were approaching.
We revised all the work we had done in class. I noticed a very great improvement on my colleague. He started reading and writing meaningful things.
I underrated the progress on him so much. Fast forward, exam time came and we sat for them. We both wrote 8 subjects.
He later told me that the farm owner of his residence had told him that if he passes his exams with at least 5 subjects he was going to offer him a good job at the farm. I didn't see any possibility of him passing.
We finished the exams and waited for the results. After two months of waiting, the results were out. My father went to collect for me and register me for Advanced Level.
On my third day in Advanced Level I met my study mate after collecting his results. He was very happy. He passed with 5 passes. I was excited and we celebrated. That was great.
