Happy Father's Day!

To the fathers who lead with love, strength, and quiet resilience—today, we celebrate you.

Being a father goes beyond providing; it’s about presence, patience, and unwavering support.

From guiding little steps to standing strong through life’s challenges, your role shapes minds and hearts in ways that words can’t always capture.

To every dad out there—whether biological, adoptive, or a father figure—you matter. Your influence is felt, and your love is deeply appreciated.

To every male figure out there doing their best to live the life for their future, we celebrate you.

Your presence is power.
Happy Father's Day from all of us at Belwet Mind Clinic

Imagine walking into a space, excited for a simple outing, only to be told—without reason—you don’t belong. That your presence makes others uncomfortable. That the world would rather look away than acknowledge your existence.

This is what happened to a father and his daughter, a child with special needs, when they were denied entry at Emirates Mall in Ilorin. The father’s pain was visible, raw. Not just because of the inconvenience, but because of the unspoken message society often sends to children like his: You are different, and that means you don’t fit.

But here’s the truth—visibility matters. Inclusion matters. And isolation, especially for people with special needs, does more harm than most realize.

Mental health isn’t just about diagnoses; it’s about how we experience the world. When children are consistently kept out of public spaces, stared at with unease, or avoided, it builds a sense of rejection. It teaches them—and their families—that maybe they really should be hidden away. That maybe the world isn’t meant for them. And that idea? It’s devastating.

We must do better. Not just for individuals with special needs, but for the mental health of every person who has ever felt like they were too different to be welcomed.

Let’s make inclusion more than just a word. Let’s make it a reality.
Let's be more human
Religion without humanity is toxicity!
Let love reign and let compassion rule!

At Belwet Mind Clinic , the goal is to make you safe as you go through the healing journey until you heal and become.the best version of you. Belwet Mind Clinic is home.

I dedicate my laughter to you🥂.

This is not about your wins,
This is not about your past,
This is not about your regrets,
This is not about your fears, pain and worries,
This is not about that painful reality,
This is not about what can't be changed,
This is not about those scars, irredeemable losses, trauma and PTSD...

This is me celebrating you for who you are.
This is me celebrating you that despite all you've been through in the last 300 days, you're still breathing.
This is me celebrating you because I believe in you and I'm rooting for you.💪

When it comes to violence, with my years of experience working with different ages, I would say that some are victims of violence not only because they don't have fathers but because of the following:
1. Religious and ignorant Parents (these sets would prefer their kids to keep enduring and praying for a miracle till they die in marriage than to leave to live)

2. Selfish parents (parents who don't care what their kid goes through, all they care about is the money they get from their in-law)

3. Religious leaders (some pastors are despicable and the words of their mouth centres around "you aren't submissive that is why, till death do you part...)

4. Fear of the society (What would be said of me if I leave?)

5. The victim now sees the predator as a part of her/his life that can't be detached (stockholm syndrome)

6. An individual with a wounded mental health status, a personality and psychological disorder. (They have long forgotten what it feels like to be loved)

I care 😘

Breaking the Silence: Preventing Sexual Abuse

As a mental health therapist, I want to emphasize the importance of addressing sexual abuse. It's crucial we recognize the signs and work together to prevent it.

☀️How To Prevent Sexual Abuse☀️
1. Open communication.
2. Set clear boundaries, be very firm with your words and consistent.
3. You owe no one an explanation for how you want to set your boundaries or want to be approached. That is why it is called personal space. You should be the one to call the shot and hold the piper.
4. Trust your instincts
5. Don't please people to your own detriment.
6. Be careful of people you hold in high esteem.
7. As soon as you feel uncomfortable leave that environment, remove yourself from that situation, walk away.
8. Pay attention to how someone makes you feel.
9. Be cautious of people that try to isolate you.
10. Be careful of people that try to groom you.
11. Have self confidence and don't get carried away by complimentary words.

Education and supporting survivors are key strategies in prevention.
Let's break the silence and create a safer, more compassionate society.
