SUGAR CANE

Sugarcane juice comes with an abundance of nutrients that includes: potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, magnesium, zinc, thiamin, riboflavin and several amino acids. A glass of sugarcane juice (240ml) comes with 180 calories, 30 grams of sugar, and is also high in dietary fiber.

Sugarcane is used to make;

Molasses

White refined sugar

Jagerry

Brown sugar

Sugar cane has been found to be useful for treating jaundice, urinary tract infection, inflammation and hemmorage ( Continuous bleeding).

Sugarcane has diuretic properties that can help remove excess salt and water to help the kidneys function properly.

Sugarcane can be eaten in minimal amounts by diabetic patients as they contain antioxidants (combating free radicals that cause diabetes).

Direct sugar derivatives like sugarcane molasses are preferable over refined white sugar as they contain less glucose.

NB-: Sugar cane still contain sugar and should be taken in minimal quantity Even though they contain antioxidants.

NUTRITIONAL LABELLING

This consist of the Nutritional information about a product after all processes are carried out. This is to help consumers with information regarding amount of nutrient they stand to get by it's intake.

There is special need for food manufacturers to ensure food Labelling are inscribed on the package of the product. This helps branding and builds customers Trust and the get valid information on the benefit of your products.

This label should contain nutritional composition of the food in accordance with the Codex Rules this include:

Calories

Carbohydrates

Dietary fiber

Trans Fat

Saturated fat

Protein

Vitamins

Minerals

This should be found in their serving size (e.g 100g) with the percentage of the daily dietary allowance of each nutrient.

Therefore it is essential for every individual, to have proper information on the daily amount of the required nutrients needed especially for those with various health issues. This would guide in grocery shopping.

Vitamin A is a fat soluble vitamin. It is needed for the proper growth and functioning of many parts of the body.

Vitamin A benefits cuts across various areas including the eyes,skin(rather than applying chemicals) and immune system.
Vitamin A is used for aging skin,acne,cataracts, child development, and infections. They maintain surface tissues such as your skin, intestine,lungs, bladder,inner ear and also support male and female reproductive system.

Diets high in carotenoids (vitamin A) are associated with a lower risk of conditions such as heart disease, lung cancer and diabetes.

Deficiency of VITAMIN A ;
Lack of vitamin A , causes
1. Preventable Blindness as declared by WHO
2. Increase risk of infection like measles and diarrhea
3. Raises risks of anemia in pregnant women
4. Slows down development of fetus

Food sources
Food sources can be gotten in Animal sources as preformed vitamin A,and plant sources as provitamin A (beta carotenoids)

Though preformed vitamin A is absorbed into the body easily, it is recommended that provitamin A be eaten more frequently and larger amount.

TOXICITY
There is a recommended dietary allowance for men -900mcg and female-700g
Upper tolerable intake of -3000mcg
Excess intake can lead to
1. Vision disturbance
2. Joint and bone pain
3. Poor appetite
4. Hair loss

Bananas are excellent sources of vitamins and minerals to our human bodies,but they either limited in our intake or taken in excess. The knowledge on the things we take into our systems helps us understand how to really balance what we take.

*Reading Nutritional information*

A lot of posts say processed foods are not good for you stay away from them.

But have you ever thought of buying a bottle of drug and consuming like half the bottle, and say drugs are not good for youπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒstay away from them??

Processed foods are actually good, it's just the quantity consumed that cause harm. The nutritional information placed behind or beside your food product helps you to read the content before buying, in line with your health status as recommended to you.

Although nice taste and foods with sweet appearance tend to make people addictive to it, the requirements/ dietary recommended allowance taken in a meal is always
stated.

So just like your drugs have a recommended intake by your doctor or pharmacist so does your foods have a recommended intake.

*Let's Break few foods fads*
1. You don't need lots of money to eat healthy.
2. I will miss out if I start watching what I eat example, ice creams etc

*Fad1*
Eating healthy has nothing to do with money, it's a mind conditioning that affects our attitude to food.

That's why we eat junks in the name of no money and end up killing ourselves, not knowing the little attitude we formed affects us now we have the money making us eat outrageously.

Eating Habits are formed by a consciously programming our minds to accept what we eat and how we eat, so when we have a lot of money we won't waste it taking things not good for our health!!

*Fad2*
You are not missing out but try to speak to yourself.

I'm not missing out but I just leveled up.

When I eat the required quantity I need daily I'm doing my self,my body and my mind, good therefore I'm not missing out

And of course i can always take a break and take a little amount of extra carbs. It's not bad habit, it's helps in controlling ones desire,but I suggest the Break you take should also be in your routine.

*Example*

Once In 3 months I will sit out and have a cup of cold stone just to calm down. But every morning I will take foods that helps to stimulate my mental capacity and give me strength working through the day.

Now in an example like that you should not be taking a bottle of drink and sausage every morning, rather have 2 slices of bread and fried or scotched egg along side a class of mango juice or tea πŸ˜ƒ

Start the right eating habit now!!!

Look around you ones there is a means there is always a way.

Eating habits- 3πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ

So we have been told that we need to cut down a lot of carbohydrate intake and begin to feed more on veggies 😌

How did that go with you??πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

The carbohydrates we are asked to stay off are the unhealthy source of carbohydrates which are taken especially by teenagers and kids. They contain high calories and should be taken in minimal amount or occasionally. Example includes muffins, sweet, drinks.etc

Now don't just cut out an existing habit without having a new habit to replace it.

Especially for children you can first minimize the amount of servings, let them just have a bit of it, but serve them more of the good carbohydrates like your whole grains like rice,beans,peas,maize.

Another reason we feel limited in our meals is because of our mind conditioning.
