Disability Not A Barrier Initiative with the invaluable support of the Disability Rights Fund successfully conducted a Validation Workshop on Inclusive Budgeting Processes for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) ahead of the 2026 Ondo State Budget.

💬 The validation workshop provided PWDs, stakeholders, and government representatives an opportunity to:

✅ Review and validate proposals that reflect the real needs of PWDs ahead of the 2026 budget preparation.

✅ Strengthen advocacy for disability-responsive budgeting

✅ Ensure PWD voices shape policies that impact their lives.
✅ Setting up of Budget Advocacy Group (BAG) with a mandate to track every activities concerning PWDs inclusivity in budgetting processing and implementations.

It is important that government should make budget available for PWDs and for the implementation of all the provisions of the Nigerian Disability Act, 2018 and every other policies designed at making lives better for PWDs.

👏 We appreciate all participants and various MDAs who made this engagement a huge success. This is a bold step towards a budget that leaves no one behind in Ondo State!

📣 Together, we will continue to demand and drive INCLUSION in governance. Kudos to DINABI for putting up this project and special appreciation to Disability Trust Fund DRF for providing the funding support.

These youth-led, female-led, and disability-focused organizations stood out through their punctuality, active participation, and consistency during our Digital Skills and AI Tools training.

With this audit, they’ll gain clarity on their digital gaps and receive guidance on how to implement smart tech solutions in their work — boosting impact, visibility, and access to funding opportunities.

It has been observed that many Ai- driven platforms are not designed to capture needs of persons with Disabilities. This action has been responsible for restrictions to accessing essential services such as education, health, social protection schemes or employment..
It's expected that our organization will be equipped with necessary knowledge on how to leverage on digital skills and Ai tools to engage the concerned authorities and see great improvement.

When organizations of Persons with disabilities are well equipped with good knowledge and technical capacity on how to advocate and advance their rights, they become agents of the change they desire, which in turn bring about an inclusive and free society for all.

As one of the selected organization to participate in the Ai Empowerment Training Program for organization, we tend to gain lots of things and to be better positioned for the task ahead.
