Today, I reaffirm Nigeria’s strong and enduring partnership with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), a key driver of sustainable development and economic transformation in our country since 1974.

Through strategic collaboration with partners such as the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the European Union (EU), GIZ continues to deliver impactful programmes that directly improve the lives of Nigerians.

From job creation and youth empowerment, to strengthening agriculture, advancing renewable energy, supporting health systems, and promoting peace and regional integration—this partnership reflects our shared commitment to inclusive growth and national development.

Importantly, these interventions are fully aligned with Nigeria’s development priorities, including the National Development Plan (2021–2025), the Renewed Hope Agenda, and our climate commitments under the Paris Agreement.

As a Ministry, we remain committed to ensuring that every collaboration translates into tangible outcomes for our people—creating opportunities, strengthening resilience, and building a more prosperous Nigeria.

Nigeria remains firmly committed to advancing climate action and sustainable development through strategic global partnerships.

Our engagement with the NDC Partnership continues to play a vital role in strengthening our national climate agenda, supporting the development and implementation of our Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), as well as long-term strategies toward achieving Net Zero by 2060.

Today’s engagement underscores the importance of reinvigorating the role of the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning in coordinating climate policy, ensuring that our development planning and budgeting frameworks fully reflect climate priorities.

As we move toward the National Development Plan (2026–2030), we are focused on integrating NDC 3.0 targets, strengthening climate-responsive budgeting, and unlocking opportunities for technical support and climate finance.

Nigeria is not only committed to meeting its climate obligations, we are positioning climate action as a driver of economic growth, resilience, and national transformation.

Nigeria’s journey to a $1 trillion economy is not accidental , it is built on deliberate planning, disciplined budgeting, and consistent ex*****on.

At the National Policy Dialogue, I reaffirmed the critical importance of aligning our National Development Plan with an effective budgeting system to drive sustainable and inclusive growth.

The National Development Plan 2026–2030 is more than a policy framework ,it is a strategic roadmap for national transformation, designed to deliver measurable outcomes, strengthen accountability, and improve the lives of Nigerians.

As we consolidate ongoing reforms and strengthen fiscal discipline, our focus must remain clear:
ensuring that every policy, every allocation, and every decision contributes meaningfully to national development.

This is a shared responsibility. Government, legislature, private sector, and citizens alike all have a role to play in building the future we envision.

Together, through focus, collaboration, and disciplined implementation, we will deliver a more resilient, inclusive, and prosperous Nigeria.

It was a pleasure to welcome Ms. Elsie Attafuah, the UNDP Resident Representative, to our office for a productive courtesy call.

We held an engaging discussion regarding our shared commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s economic development agenda.

Our conversation focused on deepening the collaboration between the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning and the UNDP, particularly in aligning international technical support with our national priorities.

We remain dedicated to working closely with our partners to ensure that our planning and budgetary frameworks continue to drive sustainable, inclusive growth for all Nigerians.

Today was a truly meaningful moment for me.

I had the pleasure of welcoming the Delegation of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) to the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, where they presented me with a National Outstanding Award.

Listening to their words of appreciation and encouragement was both humbling and inspiring. When young people come together to recognize leadership and actively engage in nation-building, it gives me even greater confidence in the future of our country.

I sincerely thank Hon. Mohammed Abdul Razaq and the entire NANS delegation for this honour. Your role as a bridge between students and government is critical, and your commitment to national progress does not go unnoticed.

For me, this is not just an award — it is a responsibility. A responsibility to continue pushing for policies and programs that create real opportunities for young people, empower women and the girl child, and ensure that every Nigerian has a chance to thrive.

At the Ministry, our focus remains clear: building an inclusive economy, strengthening human capital, and ensuring that our youth are at the center of national development as we work towards a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.

To all Nigerian students — your voice matters, your energy matters, and your future matters. Keep believing, keep pushing, and keep showing up.

I received the Trade Commissioner of the Russian Federation in Nigeria, Mr. Max I. Petrov, at the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning for a productive engagement ahead of the 5th Session of the Nigeria–Russia Joint Commission.

Our discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in key sectors including energy, agriculture, technology, and infrastructure, as well as advancing opportunities for increased trade and investment between both countries.

As we work towards the implementation of the National Development Plan 2026–2030 and the Renewed Hope Agenda, we remain committed to fostering strategic partnerships that will drive sustainable growth, enhance private sector participation, and deliver impactful, bankable projects for the Nigerian people.

Nigeria remains open and ready for mutually beneficial collaborations that accelerate national development and economic prosperity.

I had the honour of declaring open the 3-day Workshop on the finalisation of the Medium-Term National Development Plan (MTNDP 2026–2030) for our Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

This engagement represents a critical step in shaping Nigeria’s pathway towards sustainable growth, economic resilience, and inclusive development. As we work towards our national aspiration of becoming a $1 trillion economy, the role of our MDAs as drivers of policy, planning, and implementation cannot be overstated.

I commend all participants and our partners, especially UNICEF Nigeria, for their commitment to this important national assignment. Together, we will build a Plan that reflects our realities, addresses our challenges, and unlocks opportunities for all Nigerians.

Let us remain focused, collaborative, and forward-thinking as we shape the future of our nation.
