Akesis is evolving!

As part of our commitment to advancing locally-driven, responsive and sustainable health system strengthening solutions, we are pleased to share that starting today, Akesis will operate as two independent organizations: Akesis Health Nigeria and Akesis US. Akesis Health Nigeria will proudly operate as an independent, local organization working across Africa, and Akesis US will focus on current projects outside Sub-Saharan Africa.

🔸 Why this change?
This milestone is a result of a year-long strategic collaboration between Akesis Health Nigeria and Akesis US, marking a major step toward long-term sustainability and impact in Nigeria and across Sub-Saharan Africa. Collectively, this shift will enable both Akesis Health Nigeria and Akesis US to better meet the needs of the changing landscape and of the patients and partners we serve.

🔸 What does this mean for Akesis projects?
Moving forward, all governance and decision-making for Akesis Health Nigeria’s projects will be fully managed by the local team. Akesis US will focus on initiatives outside Sub-Saharan Africa and is exploring several promising growth opportunities.

🔸 What’s Next?
✔️ The Akesis Health Nigeria team remains unchanged, with its experienced leadership and staff continuing operations seamlessly.

✔️ No disruptions! Our projects and partnerships will continue as usual, ensuring we can continue to move health forward, together.

Navigating challenges in over recent years has been no small feat. Political instability and violence, natural disasters, staff security concerns, and distribution and technical assistance delays have tested our operations.

Despite facing significant obstacles, we remain steadfast in our mission to move health forward, warehousing and distributing critical medicines and commodities to 270+ service delivery points across the country, in collaboration with Chemonics under the USAID Global Health Supply Chain Program-Procurement and Supply Management.

Through proactive planning and collaboration, we are working to ensure that life-saving medicines and commodities continue to reach the people who need them most regardless of the circumstances. Here's a glimpse into how we are doing it.
