IT’S WORLD HEPATITIS DAY ‼️‼️

📌 What is hepatitis?
Hepatitis is inflammation of the liver.
It can be caused by viruses (A–E), alcohol, or toxins.

🚩The most dangerous ones are B & C.
WHY?: because they often show no symptoms until it’s too late. 🚩

🧪 Get tested, get ahead.

Early testing is the first step to protection:
✅ It helps detect silent infections
✅ Reduces liver damage
✅ Prevents spreading to others

💉 Good news!
Hepatitis B is vaccine-preventable.
🛡️ The vaccine is safe and often given at birth but adults can (and should) get it too if unvaccinated. All you need to do is ask your doctor or nearest clinic.

🚫 How to protect yourself:
🔹 Get vaccinated (Hep B)
🔹 Avoid sharing needles or sharp objects
🔹 Practice safe s*x
🔹 Ensure blood transfusions are screened
🔹 Wash hands, eat safe food (Hep A & E)

👥 Who’s at risk?
• Babies born to infected mothers
• Healthcare workers
• People with multiple s*xual partners
• Anyone with unsafe tattooing/piercing practices
• People who inject drugs

📣 At PHIGA, we believe access to testing and prevention is a right, not a privilege. We advocate for stronger policies, more youth-led health awareness, and stigma-free support for those living with hepatitis.

📍Take action today:
✅ Get tested
✅ Encourage a friend or loved one

From nearly passing out after her first donation to becoming a proud 5-time donor, Tomilola reminds us that giving blood doesn’t have to be dramatic to be life-changing.

Her story proves that one small decision can create a ripple of hope.
