Over the past few weeks, under the We Can Work Project, our facilitators and led impactful sessions with three cohorts, engaging over 120 participants, including 60 persons with disabilities.
They focused on reflecting, self-awareness, and empowerment. Participants explored mental health, learned coping strategies for stress, discrimination, and social exclusion, and discovered ways to advocate for their rights and wellbeing.
Activities included:
1. Positive affirmations and 3-3-3 breathing exercises for emotional resilience
2. Learning about legal, social, and accessibility rights
3. Debates and interactive games to practice self-advocacy in professional and social settings
3. Individual therapy sessions providing safe spaces to discuss personal challenges
Highlights:
1. Participants became more confident sharing their experiences
2. They explored ways to protect and assert their rights in their communities
3. Strengthened emotional wellbeing and resilience through practical strategies
We believe every person, regardless of ability, deserves mental health support, inclusion, and empowerment. Together, we’re breaking stigma, fostering advocacy, and creating spaces where persons with disabilities can thrive. 💚
