An excerpt from our Marriage and Family Matters Program: _Knowing & Managing Emotions in Marriage_. Mr. Fikhe Sylvanus, a passionate writer and youth advocate, shared valuable insights on emotions in marriage. He explained that emotions are an inner energy of feelings that influence our reactions. There are two types of emotions: Primary Emotions (Love, Trust, Care) and Secondary Emotions (Anger, Bitterness, Envy, Jealousy). To discover emotions, one can: Pay attention to words and tone, Observe body language and behavior, Encourage honest conversation, and Practice self-awareness. To handle emotional issues in marriage, try: Self-control, Empathy, Constructive communication, Timing, and Pray & Patience.

About today in the studio; Managing Conflict between Wife and mother-in-law or sister-in-law.
Many marriages suffer as a result of this issue that can be managed if undestandig, love and friend are the foundation.
A married person must be cautious, treat matters wisely and not be quick to pass judgment.
Conflict between these parties often begin from a place of assumption, insecurities, and especially lack of boundaries.
Set boundaries, make effective conversations, listen keenly, do strategic planning and proper implementation. Boundaries set, will create limitations and help the couple deal with this issue. The couple must plan together, work, implement and stand by each other to manage this arising conflict.

Managing Negative TRIGGERS.(cont’d)
Triggers in relationships can be complex but manageable if those involved are willing to put in the work.
1. Identify what triggers your spouse e.g traumatic experiences, discouraging words etc. Reflect on how it triggers you/them.
2. Communicate: Talk about it. Share how you feel or think your partner should feel about your triggers. Also, acknowledge and validate each other's feelings.
3. Create a coping strategy: Device means to manage triggers such as: walking away, doing something different/together, take a break or relax your mind by taking heavy breaths.
4. Build understanding: Understand the cause of each trigger. Create an environment for partners to feel comfortable discussing triggers and emotions.
5. Seek support: Attend couples therapy/counseling to work through triggers and build a stronger relationship.
Partners should work together, show empathy, understanding, and self-awareness else they may end up in a situation as bad as separation. (See next post for positive triggers

TRIGGERS IN RELATIONSHIPS.
Triggers in relationships are elements that activate strong reactions which leave negative or positive impacts in the relationship.
Negative triggers can be caused by:
Past traumas or betrayals, Insecurities or low self-esteem, Differences in communication styles, Unmet expectations, e.t.c.
Positive triggers can generate from:
Pleasant surprises, Suportive words/actions, Quality time. etc
While negative triggers can result into conflict, hurtful words/reactions and heartbreaks, Postive triggers can lead to stronger bonds, deeper connections, better understanding, growth and development, etc.

It was a beautiful day where Pastor Simeon Chia, Mrs. Dooshima Mercy Chia, Mr. Raphael Onakorere( Your Favourite Marriage Counselor on Radio), Mr. Chijioke Oyekwe(D Youngest Ichie on Radio), Miss. Lenora(D Brain of Your Radio waves) discussed on the topic: "Parenting in a S*xual Revolution." The front burner issue that everyone in our contemporary society can relate to.
It's no longer a news that 'S*x' which uses to be an act that was done in the hidden or behind the closed doors has become a public display. The society has codified the act into TV programmes, Films, Games, Cartoons to mention but a few.
The big elephant question becomes; 'How did we get here?'

Subsequently, the evolution of social media through technology and globalization with little or no checks have created a paradigm shift for the bed room act to be publicly celebrated.
Again, how can parents juggle with the fast paced generation that sees the past taboo as today's celebrated norms?
Recently, there was a story that was unveiled on the social media space where a teen in a certain school had an implant of 3 years in order not to get pregnant at any slightest action and upon discovery, an investigation was launched and further surprises were unfolded. They were 40 of those teens who did such implants for birth control.
I'm sure you are wowed! The salient questions are:

Who did those implants to those minors?
How comes did the parents not find out early enough?
How can these acts be mitigated or stopped entirely in our today's world?

Apparently, everyone has their portions of blame but most importantly, the parents have the larger portion of the blame. The quest to build empire has made so many parents to negligence. Forgetting that money and provisions of the good things of life do not form children but 'Attention and Emotional Intelligence and Support ' do.
So it was said in the programme that a primary 5 girl-child had already started mastabating and even tries to lure others to help her out. Upon investigations, it was discovered that she views some raw contents in the gadgets at home.
Yet we are shouting that our contemporary society is going hire wire.
We must wake up now in order to avert the birthing of a dangerous monster that might consume us in the nearest time. The time to act is now!

All thanks 🙏👍 to the Radio Maria Nigeria-Abuja , Carecrew, Pst. Simeon Chia and Wife (Mercy Chia), our dear Listeners.
