The National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) commemorated World AIDS Day 2025 (December 1st) with a week-long series of events under the national theme, "Overcoming Disruptions: Sustaining Nigeria's HIV Response". The events highlighted Nigeria's significant progress in meeting global targets, while emphasizing the need for continued commitment and domestic funding to end the epidemic by 2030.

The national theme, "Overcoming Disruptions: Sustaining Nigeria's HIV Response," aligned with the global call to action to address challenges like funding gaps and service interruptions. Key objectives included raising awareness, promoting testing and treatment, showing solidarity with people living with HIV (PLHIV), and reaffirming the national commitment to HIV/AIDS response.
During a press briefing ahead of the main event, the Director-General of NACA, Dr. Temitope Ilori (the soaring eagle and the most compassionate and purposeful DG of NACA), announced that Nigeria had achieved two of the three global UNAIDS 95-95-95 targets, with national performance at 87-98-95 (87% of PLHIV know their status, 98% of those diagnosed are on treatment, and 95% of those on treatment have achieved viral suppression).
