60,000 patients suffering from hypertension were examined for a recent publication. The results from this study showed that those suffering from hypertension, whose pressures remained elevated at night were 6 times more likely to experience cardiovascular death. One way of monitoring this is through ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, which allows for an extensive report on the patient's blood pressure to be measured for 24 hours.
