*If you plan to leave after registration or to redeploy on health ground DM for your medical report*

Below are the list of things you should not take to camp

📋1. Mattress: This might sound strange but some PCMs bring this. The NYSC management provides mattresses to every PCM. Bringing your own mattress could amount to excess luggage, and thereby, make security operatives to seize it.

📋2. Cutlery (NOT ALL TYPES): Things like Knives, fork, tin-cutter, pliers are seized because it is believed that PCMs might use them for negative things. Spoons are allowed, but don't go with more than one metal spoon.

📋3. Sophisticated electronic devices: Things like Extensions, big tablets, laptops, palm top, etc are not allowed in camp. But, if you managed sneak in with any of devices, just bare in mind you brought it for Camp thieves to take. Security normaly seize them at the gate check point and tag them with a number so after camp you can easily collect them back while leaving. But trust me, 80% PCMs forget to collect their items back.

📋4.Too much luggages: Not everything you should come to camp with. All the things you may need are being sold in Mammy market, although it's more expensive there but you will save yourself the stress for things like: bucket, foodflas, spoons, plates, white shoe, shots, white polos, waist bag, detergent, soap, beverage,, bed-sheet, pilows etc. In order not to overload yourself, come with the little you have and buy the rest from camp market if you have the money.

📋5. Electrical Appliances: Corps Members are not allowed to enter camp or use thing like pressing Iron, Stove, boiler, clipper etc in the Camp. If found with any of them, it would be seized.

P/S: Dont forget your blue jeans for the carnival including your Medical Fitness Certificate as you will not be allowed in camp without that.

📋6. Too many Muftis: As fun as camp would be and you would like to make shakara small, sorry to burst your bubble but you will be wearing white on white or Khaki through out the days of your stay. The only time you will be allowed to put on mufty are sundays when going for your various Religious activities and the Carnival. So a pair of m***i or 2 pairs is ok for that. You are also allowed to wear mufty inside your room in the hostel but i can assure you there is no time to stay in the hostel because you will always be engaged with one activity or the other.

Detail procedure on NYSC orientation camp registration
NYSC camp registration
The national youth service corps (NYSC) is a one year compulsory programme for all graduate of higher institution under the age of 30 from Nigeria.

It is built on four cardinal points before the award of the discharge certificate. The first of the cardinal point is the NYSC orientation camp.
After registration for NYSC, applicants that meet mobilization requirements are given a green card. This is followed by a call up letter indicating the state orientation camp they are posted to.

The orientation camp is a place corps members (CM) learn discipline and know more about the state. All these take place within 21 days. They perform several activities. However, all these will not be possible without first registration at the camp.

*REPORT TO CAMP*

After getting all the necessary checklist items, you are good to go. It is good to arrive camp a day before if you can. There are some advantage to it. It reduces the stress of joining queue for almost anything you want to do. It also makes it easy for camp official to attend to you as there are few corp members to attend to.

Camp officials are generally nice. I consider them nice when I compare them to the hostile nature of Nigerian lecturers. However, do not play on that. Be polite to them at all times. They value greeting just like your lecturers do. Just that they may not show it.

If you come a day before the official opening day, you can only do one thing. That is to secure an accommodation. Every other activity can only be done the next day. Also, accommodation can be the last thing to be done. But for convenience, register for accommodation on time.

*ARRIVING IN CAMP*

At the gate, a security operative will check your luggage in case you want to bring in prohibited items. You will be ask if you have any. Saying no puts you under the law when you are later found wanting.

Another security operative will check your call up letter and your state NYSC orientation camp. If you are not supposed to be in that particular camp or you are using an old call up letter, you will be sent back. They may also check if you are with all your vital documents. Some people were sent home from here to get the complete items.

You can go register for accommodation or physical registration. I will advise you go for accommodation first. It will allow you drop your bag and luggages in the room before embarking on the physical registration.

*ACCOMODATION*

Some orientation camp give all PCM a code at the gate. Take it along with your bag and luggages to the accommodation stand. Write down your name and call up number in a book after providing your code given to you at the gate. The same information is entered into a form. The form is also filled by other prospective corp members (PCM). You will have to wait for the names to be up to a particular number. The number of bed space per room is what is needed for that list to be full. If a room have 30 bed space, the list will be attended to when the names on it are up to 30.
All those in the list will be taken to a room. Each person will choose a bed space known as bunk. If there is a misunderstanding as to the choice of bunk between corp members, the first person to write down their name on the list will be entitled to choose first.

*PHYSICAL VERIFICATION*

After securing an accommodation and a bed space, move over to the registration stand. At the gate, the security man will direct you on what to do. The process is long and complicating.
A camp official is assigned to attend to corp members from some particular schools. The security man at the gate will show you the stand for your school. For foreign trained graduate, they are directed to the stand where all their documents is verified with the documents they uploaded online. Go straight and join the queue. At this place, they want to see all you valid documents you were ask to bring to camp.

These are the

~NYSC original call up letter,
~NYSC green card duly signed by you,

~statement of result or certificate,

~final year school identity card, medical fitness certificate,

~cover letter or licence. (Medical personnel )

They need the original of all the documents. For non pharmacist, they are given a form called personal data form and they move onto the next phase. But for pharmacist, you need to go to another stand for your licence or cover letter to be verified. If you are going with a licence, chances are that the camp officials may be confuse because many have not seen a pharmacist licence before. What they normally see is the cover letter.

At this stand, your documents need to be arranged in a definite manner. The arrangement is as follows;
1. NYSC call up letter
2. NYSC green card duly signed by you
3. Statement of result
4. School identity card
5. Medical fitness certificate
6. Cover letter or license

After verification of your cover letter or licence here, they will then direct you to go back to your school stand to continue the process. At your school stand, they will signed on your call-up letter and give you a personal data form. Head over to online verification stand.

If you are pregnant or married, they will attend to you separately. Some of your details will help them to decide if they should start processing your redeployment to your state of schoice or your preferred local government within the state.
Here, you will provide your signed call up letter and statement of result. After they have imputed some details into the system, you will be asks to thumb print. That is biometric clearance. However, if your biometric clearance fails, you will need to write and submit an application letter in the orientation camp before leaving. NYSC will drop it against next batch/stream for recapture.

You will be given back your statement of result and call up letter after the biometric clearance. The call up letter will be sign by them at another spot. Move over to the next stand. They will look at your call up letter, sign it and give you a state code, a personal data file, a perforated rope, an undertaking form and bank account opening form.

You should write down your name, call up letter and state code on a book you will be given where other corp members also wrote theirs. The personal data file will contain your already written state code that Tally's with your tag. You state code is your identification throughout your NYSC year. It contains the state short name, your year of service, your batch and your special number.

From the special number, you all will be divided into one of ten plantoon during the 21 days orientation camp. The last digit is use to divided corp members into plantoon. For example, the state code LA/19B/5262,
LA/19B/8740 and
DE/18C/6751

This means that the first code is deployed in Lagos (LA)during 2019 batch B orientation programme (19B)and is to fall into plantoon 2. (526(2))

The second one is same Lagos, same year and same batch like the first. Just that that person will fall into plantoon 10 because 0 stands for 10 (874(0)). The last is deployed to Delta State (DE)during 2018 batch C (18C)and falls into plantoon 1 (675(1)).

At this stage, you can go to register with you plantoon or go straight to the bank. It is advisable you go to the bank first because some of the data's will be needed at your plantoon.
Note that in all of this, you are not to submit any of the above forms. They will give you back everything.

*BANK REGISTRATION*

NYSC require all corp members to open a new bank account. Bank customer service will come to orientation camp to open new account for all members. The number of banks that will come is determined by the camp officials. Corp members with certain state code range are assigned to one bank. This is usually in serial number like from 5000 to 6000 will use one bank. It does not matter if you already have an account with them.

To make the registration easy for you, please get your bank verification number (BVN) down. Without it you cannot open an account at the camp. The number can be gotten by dialling the USSD code *565 # from the mobile phone link with your BVN. They may charge you 20 naira. If you dial this code on that day, it may not work due to congestion. Others corp members are dialling it all over the country. So please, do this before going and write in out clearly somewhere. Better still, save it on your mobile phone as contact or text message. And make sure the name on your bank BVN is same name on your NYSC. If not you will start filling new forms after camp at the bank.

Fill in the bank form you were given at the registration ground. Attach your passport size photograph to the place meant for passport. No specification on background. I use one while others use two.

Locate where you bank is and move over to to them. Submit the form. Wait for them to verify your BVN and look out for where you are to fill that you may have ignore. Bank BVN is usually eleven digit. Don't bother yourself filling every page. It is called a solo account or student account (it can hold million ).
Write down your name and state code on their book.

They will give you a small form. They will sign it and give it to you. Complete the form by filling in your name and state code.

*Plantoon Registration*

Locate your plantoon inspector. They will most likely be under the camp tent. Look for a comfortable place to fill your details in the personal data form. Also, fill your details in the personal data file. Get them perforated in the following format;
1. NYSC call up letter
2. NYSC green card
3. Personal data form
4. Undertaking
5. A copy of Statement of result
6. Original of medical fitness certificate

Write down your state code at the top of each of the documents should in case anyone gets missing, it can easily be tracked. Add numbers to the top too from one to six just as it appears here. That is write 1 at the top of the NYSC call up letter, 2 at the top of the green card, etc
Staple the bank card at the open side of the front cover. Attach three passport size photograph at the top of the file at the open side of the front cover. Submit the file to the plantoon inspector or assistant for verification of that arrangement and authorization.

If they approve your file, you will be given a meal ticket and directed to go to the plantoon stand to get your NYSC complete kits. To collect your kit, you must write down your name, your state code and signature. The complete kit will be given to you. The kit include;

1. Two white short
2. Two white T shirt
3. A pair of crested white table tennis shoe
4. A pair of NYSC socks
5. A pair of white socks
6. A crested NYSC cap
7. A crested vest
8. A khaki shirt
9. NYSC belt
10. A khaki trouser
11. A pair of jungle boot

1. submitting request letter after camp is for only people that relocated. They have this opportunity because they are new to the state and are yet to be given state code. So in this case the have opportunity to pick up a request letter from PPA of choice and submit together with their relocation letter.

While you that camped in that state does not have the opportunity of submitting request letter anymore because you will be given a PPA as you leave camp. In this case, what you can do now is called PPA reposting thereby paying someone (like me) to repost you or if you found favour from your LGI.

NB: If you know you are not relocating make sure to pick up your request letter and submit in camp.

2. Are you give the green letter in camp. Though I didn’t understnd ur question very well but I think you are asking if the green card will be give to you in camp?

The answer is No. You are the one taking the green card to camp. The green card is the option where you see print slip after loging in and closing the pop up (addendum) it’s a compulsory documet for your camp registration.

If you forget to print it at home you still have a chnace of printing it in camp. It will also be used do documentation at your LGA of posting after camp. It’s called green card because it’s a document that gives you the go ahead to proceed just like the traffic light 🚦

3. Addendum is that pop up u see each time you log into your dashboard. It has 2 button either to print or close for you to be able to access your dashboard properly.

It cannot be printed with a phone. Only computers 💻 🖥️ can print it properly. It’s unique to each PCM because your name appears on it. It’s printed black and white bcos there is no color on it.

It is a must have document. Should u forget it at home before camp it can also be printed in camp.

4. Going to camp does not mean you are going to do cleaning service . Since we have over 37 camps my answer might not be correct in this aspect since I can’t say what will happen in all the camps.

Note: it’s not the duty of CORPERS to clean camp. But during the period of camp activities each platoon ( last digit of your state code( 0 is 10 platoon or platoon 10) ) will perform many task including cooking and sanitation of the camp environment.

NB: every activities in camp will be done in platoon

NB: sanitization in camp does not start in the first week so going to camp early in general shouldn’t put u in cleaning position. Though camp may differ. Beside when u enter m ur lodge u will need to arrange your space and maybe tidy it properly.

5. Submitting report and leaving camp will not affect you in future. Any decision you took during camping ends with camp.

The fact u used medical report to leave camp doesn’t mean you are not fit for your 1 year service. This is the reason why medical fitness is compulsory.

The medical fitness has already gone ahead to make you a corper that’s why it’s submitted during registration. Without it NYSC won’t approve your registration.

Should your medical fitness say unfit you will be sent home and won’t be registred in camp. Meaning you are not fit for your 1 year service. In this case you won’t even get to the stage of presenting a report to leave camp because only a corper with a state code can present a medical report to leave camp.

The medial report is only for camp exemption and not for service exemption therefor it won’t have any effect on you in future.

A call up letter is a letter that NYSC sends to registered Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) calling them for National Youth Service Programme.

Below are five important things NYSC Call-up letter will show you;

1️⃣ NYSC call up letter will show you the State you are posted to serve

2️⃣ It will show you the Date you should report to NYSC Orientation camp (you can report any date before swearing in date)

3️⃣ Call up letter will show you name and address of Orientation camp to go (some might be posted to particular state and have their orientation program in other states.. note this )

4️⃣ It will show you basic NYSC camp requirements

5️⃣ Another thing NYSC call up letter will show you is your personal details including your Call-up number and Batch.

Note:Pay attention to the address of Orientation camp it will show you. This is because NYSC may
post you to a particular State and ask you to camp in a different State.

For example, NYSC may post someone to Abuja, and ask the same person to camp in Niger State Orientation camp, this is because of protocol and overcrowding a particular camp. So, pay attention to the State you’re posted to, and address of the Orientation camp. If you are to camp else where, and you choose to go to the main camp, you won’t be registered.

Ensure you have gotten your medical Fitness,if you plan on redeploying when you get to camp.
Apply for Relocation through DG or Medical Report, incase if you don't have interest in that state.

NB: Ensure there is no disparity in your name and date of graduation else you won’t be registered in camp

In this post I will be sharing on the best groups to join during your stay in NYSC

Some of this group at the NYSC Orientation Camp can get you connection for relocation, money, posting and particularly time away the sunny parade ground

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), an organization set up by the Nigerian government since 1973 to ensure Nigerian students give a mandatory one-year service upon graduation, recently issued out call-up letters to certain individuals who have qualified to join the last batch for the year. However, while these individuals are much elated to get the opportunity, seeing as completing the service year entitles one to employment, a number of them are perturbed as to how to cope with the three weeks “orientation” period spent in a military-controlled boot “camp” away from family and friends.

1. Join the important groups

It is one thing to be in camp, it is another to be part of the important activities on camp

a. Join OBS
The Orientation Broadcasting Service (OBS) is a great way to serve while in the camp. A very important unit of the camp, it will offer you opportunities to not only develop your editorial and media skills, you will get to know the key officers in the camp. It also gives you a measure of authority and allows you to get an exemption from some of the camp activities which you may be averse to.

b. Join Man o war
Man o war are the special squad that welcomes dignitaries to the camp, after the quarter guards have saluted them, they are also rewarded for this duty and can keep you away from the sun on the parade ground.
That are likewise trained to lead the fellow platoon members in man o war activities, it is not a serious work like that, you will have fun singing, dancing and jumping.

c. Quarter guard and parade leader
This is not always fun, but if you have experience with matching before, it will be easy for you. You can get connected if you excel also at this

d. NCCF/Muslim Corpers Exco
The whole essence of all this group is been active and there is no other place your been active can be rewarding than in your religious setting executive team

2. Run a small business
You can actually make money while at the orientation camp. You can offer services such as hair dressing or laundry to others in the camp who need them for a fee or you can rent a stall at the Mami market and sell food items which most corpers need from day to day. It is a great way to hone your business skills before you are launched into the labour market.

3. Do an online course
The orientation period does not have to be all activities and socializing, you can further develop yourself on the side by registering and going through a short online course during your stay. The good thing about online learning is that it is flexible so you can actually plan it around the time that you will be leaving the camp.

4. Socialize and actually meet new people
The NYSC scheme was originally established to encourage oneness among citizens in the country and promote national unity. By sending these individuals to other states, the expectation is that they mix with people of other tribes, social and family backgrounds and learn the culture of the indigenes in the place they are posted. Rather than sticking to yourself all through the orientation process, use your spare time to actually fraternize and get to know the people in your platoon and camp as a whole. You would be surprised how many new things you will learn about Nigeria and what connections you may make for the future.

5. Start applying for jobs/Publish your long essay
The orientation period is not too early a time to start sending out your CVs to potential employers. The NYSC orientation can actually serve as an avenue for corpers to share job information and career resources, so take advantage of that and start early. And no better time to publish your work. It always come out helpful
