Lassa fever is not “just malaria” and it’s not something to ignore.

It is a serious viral illness that spreads through contact with food, surfaces, or household items contaminated by rats, and sometimes through contact with an infected person’s body fluids. In many cases, the early symptoms look mild, like fever, headache, and weakness. That is why many people delay going to the hospital.

But when treatment is delayed, Lassa fever can become life threatening.

We were honored to host the Inaugural Scientific and General Meeting of the Nigerian Association for Apheresis.

It was a meaningful gathering of professionals committed to advancing apheresis practice in Nigeria. From insightful discussions on research abstracts, to idea-sharing sessions, sponsor presentations, and the recognition of outstanding contributions through awards, the meeting created space for learning, growth, and collaboration.

Beyond the presentations, it was a chance to connect, reflect, and strengthen our shared commitment to improving patient care through innovation and teamwork.
