Typically, they see problems as threatening; they doubt their ability to cope with them and, even if they do try to engage in problem-solving, they are pessimistic about the outcome. In order for us to overcome worry, you will need to adjust your view of problems and remind yourself that you have the capacity to solve them successfully.

It will not be as difficult as you may think if you truly understand that your current beliefs about these thoughts and what they mean are not supported by what we now know about them. It is not what you think: you are in no danger from weird, scary, and disturbing unwanted thoughts. The answer is learning an entirely new relationship to thoughts, which is being neither scared nor ashamed of them.
Gradually, you will learn to tame those bullies in your head and live a life that is free from their torment.

We often relive our worst moments instead of letting go. We pick at emotional wounds and refuse to allow healing to take place, which means the pain lingers. We may even feel compelled to ensure that someone else experiences the same hurt we have just felt. We cling to resentments that occupy our minds, waste our time, and keep us feeling angry and depressed. This can even lead to physical illness and, in some cases, can be life-threatening. It’s high time we forgive the “self” and let healing start.
