We have only asked from you what we should ask from only you Dear Chief Hon. Peter Akpanke.

Some of us need more than money from you!
We seek legislative interventions on policy reviews, appeals and compliance. If these is done, there will be no need seeking support from individuals and private citizens for sponsorships.

Our continuous appeal to friends, son's & daughters of the Bekwarra, Obudu and Obanliku nations individually especially those dear to the Honourable member of Parliament, Hon Peter Akpanke is to mention and emphasize the need for this intervention as it concerns the citizens with a combined population of at least 720,000 residents.

Being a member of the National Executive Council and South South Coordinator of the Civil Society Network on Hepatitis Nigeria, (CiNH-Nig.), there's a lot we can do for the entire CRS if only Your Honour pay attention to this public health threat.

The cost of basic diagnosis for liver care, dialysis, treatment and management alone cost between N12,000,000-N15,000,000 million naira and we do not expect that you throw this monies at us even if you had it.
Your constituents majorly the youthful and productive populations are the most affected and over 95% of those already affected cannot help themselves.
Hepatitis at all stages are expensive to diagnosed, treat and to manage.

Sincerely, even a level 14 step 9 civil servant with the state government civil service cannot conveniently afford these, how much more an individual who works decently at a private clinic or as a school teacher earning N17,000 monthly with additional N12,000 lesson fees at the end of every term. Maybe still; an artisan!.

Dear Chief Honourable Peter Akpanke, your attention is currently needed at home (Obanliku, Obudu & Bekwarra) to provide immediate relief through the recommendations earlier submitted which upon request shall be provided again.

Respectfully, we do not have a happy situation here as there are absolutely no measures on ground to assist the ailing individuals and families as we once more appeal that your honour kindly consider looking into this plaque which we have made efforts in reaching out to you this two years.

Thanks dutifully as we wait for your intervention through your constituency office, the AKPANKE FOUNDATION or BEKWARRA HEPATITIS B SUPPORT & ADVOCACY INITIATIVE.

Yours Sincerely,
David Irinam

Dear Dist. Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, There's chaos, a silent biological war against humanity led by viral hepatitis ...
14/06/2025

Dear Dist. Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe,

There's chaos, a silent biological war against humanity led by viral hepatitis B&C!
I approach you today with a familiar text from an age long classical piece, one with which I know you're familiar with and in it I reiterate...

"...Men who are sketching the landscape put themselves down in the plain to study the nature of the mountains and the highlands, and to study the low-lying land they put themselves high on the mountains, so, to comprehend fully the nature of the people, one must be a prince, and to comprehend fully the nature of princes, one must be an ordinary citizen" (...And you have been both!).

The youths and their families have already suffered a great economic burdens of financially battling the cost of treatment and care which over 95% cannot afford.
Many individuals and families have been made poor from paying the Doctors.
Decent jobs as domestic aids, cooks at the eateries which is what majority of our youthful population do in towns and cities and as noble as our security agencies (military and paramilitary services) on whose shoulder rest our safety by strength and might, youthful applicants are screened out during medical exercises.
Homes are broken and marriages have been dissolved.
There's chaos, and as projected by the NHIS it will outnumber the combined fatality of Malaria, HIV/AIDS, & Tuberculosis by 2040 as a result of failures in public health control measures.
What we seek is a redress from you our Distinguished Senator and as a national legislator on policy and legislative intervention which rest a lot on laws and appeals that would bring about swift government attention to your constituency (CRN).

Dear Senator, from Obanliku, Obudu, Bekwarra, Ogoja & Yala LGAs (CRN) and even up to central CRS your constituency with a population of at least One (1) million residents do not have access to a medical facility that can care for us and "Calabar" alone cannot accommodate us!.

Your house bill and proposal for the establishment of a federal medical center in Ogoja are timely and will serve more than sufficiently dear distinguished Senator.
We've provided benefits to Northern Cross River State on several grounds and have been the pride of Cross River as the frontiers even before the international communities.

What we seek is more than money! We appeal for bills, and deliberate attention from you as the Man of the people whom we've heard.

Bekwarra elites, sons and daughters, majority of whom are private citizens have been responsible for our various degrees of interventions ranging from health education, counseling, point of care testing/screening, and treatment support for viral hepatitis services which is over 50 times deadlier than HIV/AIDS.
We have tested/screened 4,989 individuals and (counting) FOR FREE, while reaching out to a great number of members of the public. We already offered our services as a nonprofit making and as a patient-community led support group.

Our goal is reaching the unreached and mostly the underserved communities to provide these services all without cost, as a way of bridging the gap between the local communities and ensuring accessible care for health equity.

The motorcycle herein attached is the one we use for our mobilization and medical outreaches and we again appeal for a project vehicle or motorcycle (s) that can serve us as we continue to mobilize actively until there's government interventions at all levels (from the Federal to Local government authorities).

Please accept our most esteemed regards as we look forward to your response on the official reports, letters and other supporting documents attached that were delivered handy at your recent town hall meeting in Bekwarra LGA, sent through your protocol which is improved upon as that sent at October 2023 to your office through courier services and via your official email address Sir.

Yours Sincerely,
David Irinam

08/06/2025

We had to be part of the rituals according to the traditions of our host; The Afrike-Okpeche Nation and we were sanctified as it was in the shrine of the Roman Catholic Church because today is pentecost day!

Our outreach was timely taken to and it was indeed a necessary community outreach.

Considering the sensitive nature of the liver with Viral hepatitis B&C being the leading cause of liver cancer (Hepatocellular carcinoma-HCC). We can only advocate from the starting point which includes awareness and prevention of hepatitis infection which is the first step in addressing liver cancer.

Early diagnosis is important as we continue to engage our target communities.

Thank you the Chief Priest, Rev. Fr. Dr. Thomas Oko (Parish Priest) for accommodating us and adding your voice again as an altar advocate.
Indeed if all religious leaders ensure that the right knowledge is passed across, these will save the church from unnecessary prayers as we already know that faith without work is dead. As also there's no need for a doctor except he/she who is sick.

Way back in the wisdom of the early missionaries, where worship centers were cited, schools were established for enlightenment as well as hospitals to take care of sick people.
On the altar of knowledge, prayers and good works, viral hepatitis and liver related diseases are easily prevented and controlled.

Thank you the opinion leaders of Okpeche for accepting our services today.
Thank you most importantly our partnership, donors, collaborators and facilitators for making everything possible for this community impact.
Sincerely, we appreciate Honourable Mike Olom Ikado, CEO Bekwarra Fish Farm for the financial support and for ensuring our successful outing today. Also Officer Mathew Ushie (Lab Scientist) for facilitating our refreshment and well-being.

We keep using fine words to pamper ourselves but honestly, nine (9) positive cases on first diagnosis for a single outreach is alarming. The goal is 'Ebekwarra Itanung keti wuo! and for the common good of all, may we succeed. 🙏

Ensure to test/screen, vaccinate, or treat. Viral hepatitis is real.

SCHEDULE OF MEDICAL OUTREACH AT AFRIKE 1- OKPECHE (Sunday 8th, June 2025)

With the right political will and commitment, we hope to eliminate Viral Hepatitis by 2030 and not people living with hepatitis.

Viral hepatitis B&C is the leading cause of liver cancer (Hepatocellular carcinoma-HCC).
There's no hospital/medical facility in Africa that does liver resectioning or transplant. Preventing hepatitis infection is the first step in addressing liver cancer.

Early diagnosis is important. Ensure to test/screen, vaccinate, or treat.
Viral hepatitis is real.

Please eliminate it not me!

Was it because I acted like Icarus who was warned by his father after receiving a wing made of wax being warned not to fly too close to the sun? I appeal that the mistakes of my youth be pardoned.😢
What if it were from my mother while I was yet to be born or my birth attendant whose job again posed another possibilities while resting on her standing orders still forgot to sterilize the medical equipment.
When I was much younger, we use to go to the public hair barber and back then, there was less emphasis
on sterilizing the clipper blades before a decent hair cut where we were.
As a growing child, we had a communal life where we played together with children from other homes. With our innocence, we had no idea that there was an impending doom from such innocent moments at home, school, or the playground. It was at such moments that turned out to be the reality of indifference.😤

Today I go to serve my nation in the strength of my youthful vigour and am screened out on the ground of medicals. Then I go to the religious congregation and am disqualified because I am unclean. Again I go for a noble yet very humble service even as a domestic aid in homes or even as a cook at the public eateries and restaurants and am still rejected.🤧

Do not eliminate me!!
I am not a biological hazard.😩

Your silence and inactions to me is a silent form of elimination. I feel it's a form of "passive euthanasia" because in your silence and inactions I see palliatives and it cannot sustain me.

I have been reduced to negotiate for a future that I didn't bargain for.

Be kind to me and others like me.
Listen and act on our behalf, for the burden is great and the yoke is heavy.🤧
Eliminate Viral Hepatitis not people living with hepatitis.
Test, screen, vaccinate, or treat. Viral hepatitis is real.

Reviewing the dataset from the past five (5) months breaks my heart as an advocate. Hepatitis B & C are bleeding humanity daily because there're no effective measures to stop them!

NOW IN WARD, ANOTHER PROGRESS REPORT.

As we continue to navigate through the best approaches for accessible and affordable health care, we are constantly reminded that a nation is only as wealthy as it's healthy citizens and being a duty call, we are glad to report the progress made recently in ward by activating the Primary health care center (PHC) as another spoke site for continuous community health interventions.
This is not just about viral hepatitis, it's about health equity! Our goal is to reach everyone.

While we continue on ward rounds and community outreaches, residents of Gakem, Beten, and Otukpuru now have access to *Free daily* point of care testing and voluntary testing for hepatitis B & C services. These is what we will continue to do until the government at all levels intervene to address this public health burden.
With best wishes from our team.

WE ARE ONLY MAKING THESE APPEALS ON THE GROUND OF PRIVILEGES NOT ENTITLEMENTS!

Dear Distinguish Sen Jarigbe Agom, Rt. Hon. Legor Idagbo Hon. Peter Akpanke, Peter Akpanke , Hon. Omang Charles Omang C Omang 4 Bekwarra State House of Assembly, 2023, Hon. Theresa Akwaji Ushie.

Your personal commitments, Protocol and those around you who should have better presented our plights have rather prevented us from reaching out to you.

In addition to the good works you do for our people and those whom you represent, again for the sake of humanity and service to our people, we sincerely appeal for Two (2) MOTORCYCLES or a VEHICLE that can convey a five (5) men team and mobile laboratory items for our various community/medical outreaches aimed at providing FREE HEALTH CARE SERVICES ON HEPATITIS B & C in Northern Cross River which has been demonstrated as ongoing projects in Bekwarra LGA.

We've been of benefits to Northern Cross River on several grounds and have been the pride of Cross River as the frontiers even before the international communities.

Bekwarra elites, sons and daughters, majority of whom are private citizens have been responsible for our various degrees of interventions ranging from health education, counseling, point of care testing/screening, and treatment support for viral hepatitis services which is over 50 times deadlier than HIV/AIDS.
We have tested/screened over 4,904 individuals and (counting) FOR FREE, while reaching out to a great number of members of the public.
Interventions are yet to be available from the government at all levels and we already offered our services as a nonprofit making, patient community led support group.

We will be branding these motorcycles or vehicle in honour of our donor (s) except such an individual decline such recognition.

Please be assured that this support will be donated to "Bekwarra hepatitis B support & advocacy initiative" (not to an individual) as a relief to ease the burden of transportation and logistics during community outreaches and campaigns.
Our goal is reaching the unreached and most underserved communities to provide these essential services all without cost as a way of bridging the gap between the local communities and accessible care for health equity.

We pray that Your Honours will consider our appeal with the sincerest compassion and also as a deep means of motivating our team to continue mobilizing inform interventive measures through strategic advocacy, policy reviews and recommendations as well as other engagements that has brought us the results we share today.

WE ARE ALL IN IT TOGETHER KNOWINGLY OR UNKNOWNLY.
We were at Ububa Ukum/Ububa Ebechua yesterday (19-05-2025).

Nothing breaks the heart of a concerned advocate like seeing a mother in tears relating to our health advocacy as an untimely intervention.
Personally, I have suffered a great deal in the hands of this monster and my fate is the lots of many.

A mother asked; where have you people been all this while that I already buried my two sons and we were told it's hepatitis B!.
With tears, another mother rushed home to fetched the entire household because a son was already down with visible hepatomegally (abnormal enlargement of the liver resulting to swelling of the stomach), a case we're still contemplating which authority or individual could help!

LET NO POLITICIAN PLAY POLITICS ON HEPATITIS B & C!
LET NO RELIGIOUS LEADER OUT OF IGNORANCE OR MILITANCY UNDERMINE IT!!
LET NO INDIVIDUAL TRIVIALIZE THESE!!!
Our services are absolutely free and centered on the most underserved and hard to reach communities.

Here we can't even afford the basic confirmatory diagnosis to validate individual's eligibility for treatment or not. The last set of people who went to the UNIVERSITY OF CALABAR TEACHING HOSPITAL which is the basics are yet to return after a week now due to the standard protocols and adopted best practices resting on due process which must be completed.

Aside religion, politics, personal interest and individual differences, amongst other factors, HEPATITIS IS A PROBLEM THAT MUST BE ADDRESSED URGENTLY.
More than anything else, Humanity first!
Thank you to our partnership; Ke' ebekwarra Itanung Foundation, our Collaborator; Cogitos Resorts & Accommodations, our Facilitator; Bekwarra Committee of Mega Friends (BCMF), Calabar and most sincerely our individual donors and sponsors *(2025-2026)*

These is how collectively we have mobilized such interventions until the government at all levels will be responsive and responsible for this health emergency.

HEALTH IS NOT A LUXURY, IT'S THE MOST ESSENTIAL NEED AND IT IS ON THE GOVERNMENT!
