United Nations Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, 2022 celebration was hosted by NDLEA in collaboration with stakeholders across Ekiti state including the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) Ekiti State Branch from 24th to 27th of June, 2022. even though the 26th of June is the official date, this years celebration was done between Friday 24th and Monday 27th.

Knighthood Pharmacy is proud to be a part of this important program geared at bringing the awareness of the public to the danger of drug abuse and drug trafficking in our society. Students, Traditional and community leaders, religious leaders, commercial vehicle owners, market women, health provides, law enforcement agents etc... were present as stakeholders. The take home for this year was that the stakeholders should spread the message on the need to discourage drug abuse amongst their children, wards, members of their associations and and be vigilant to recognize the warning signs amongst the victims of drug abuse and addiction. Some of such warning signs to be watched out for are: mood swings, irritability, withdrawal from social spaces, change in friends, change in dressing, insatiable and unexplained demand for money, lateness to school or work, dilation of the eyeballs, needle track marks on forearms(which they will attempt to hide with sweaters) and tremors of the limbs, jerking movements of the neck and mouth. all of these symptoms may lead to death if not checked/treated.
