Today, the Delta State Government joins the global community to observe the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Ge***al Mutilation (FGM), marked annually on February 6, under the theme “Towards 2030: No End to FGM Without Sustained Commitment and Investment.”

As a state government, we emphasize our responsibility to protect the rights and dignity of women and girls. Female Ge***al Mutilation remains a harmful practice and a violation of human rights, with serious physical and emotional consequences.

Ending FGM requires sustained commitment, investment in awareness and prevention, and collective action at all levels. Together, we must continue to speak out, engage communities, and take decisive steps to eliminate this practice and create a safer, more equitable society for all.
