SAYING NO TO COHABITATION: A HEALTHY CHOICE FOR UNDERGRADUATES
As an undergraduate, you're likely navigating the challenges of academic life, social relationships, and personal growth. One important decision you may face is whether to cohabitate with your romantic partner. While it may seem convenient or romantic, cohabitation can have unintended consequences that can harm your relationship, academic performance, and personal well-being.

Relationship Consequences may include Communication Breakdown, loss of Personal space and Autonomy, Financial stress and entanglement, unrealistic expectations and disappointment, Blurred Boundaries and intimacy amongst others...

Academic consequences may include Distraction and decreased focus, increased stress and Anxiety, decreased motivation and accountability, conflicting priorities and schedules amongst others

Personal wellbeing consequences may include Decreased Personal growth and Development, increased Code pendency, decreased self care and self reflection, increased stress and burnout amongst others

Saying NO to cohabitation is a healthy choice for undergraduates. By maintaining focus on academics, preserving personal space and autonomy, fostering healthy communication, avoiding financial stress and entanglement, and supporting personal growth and development, you can build a stronger, more resilient relationship and achieve greater academic and personal success.

A lot of attention needs to be paid to the issue of students not knowing which course and university to apply for during their final days in secondary school.

In my secondary school days, I kept asking myself questions like: What course should I study? What university should I choose as my first choice? Until that moment, I had never really sat down to give it much thought.

This is the problem with most secondary school students. They are not convinced about the course they want to study at the tertiary level until SSS 3, when it is mandatory to choose a career path during their JAMB registrations.

Most students lack proper counsel and guidance during this period, so it is likely that they make the wrong choice.

Students seeking admission into universities like UI, OAU, and UNILAG to study courses such as Medicine and Surgery, Law, and Engineering need to be aware that these are highly competitive institutions, and gaining admission to study those courses can be quite a task.

Applying for the same course at the same university for 2, 3, or 4 years is not a smart move. If you applied once or twice and were denied, consider changing your institution instead of wasting time.

I believe secondary school students need proper orientation starting from JSS 1 on how to go about choosing a career path. This will help curb the uncertainties many experience while choosing a career path later in their final years of secondary school.
