Hello everyone, today we'll be discussing HEADACHE

Headache is a pain in the hard face often described as a pressure that's throbbing, constant, sharp, or dull. Headaches can differ greatly regarding pain type, severity, location, and frequency.

TYPES OF HEADACHE
1. Primary Headache
2. Secondary Headache

PRIMARY HEADACHE: Dysfunction or overactivity of pain-sensitive features in the head causes primary headaches. They are not a symptom of or caused by an underlying medical condition, some people may have genes that make them more likely to develop primary headaches.
Types of primary headache
a. Tension-type headache (the most common type of primary headache)
b. Migraine headache
c. Cluster headache
d. New daily persistent headache (NDPH)
*Some primary headaches can be triggered by these factors:
1. Alcohol, particularly red wine
2. Certain foods such as processed meats that contain nitrates (food triggered headache)
3. Consuming ni****ne (ni****ne headache)
4. Changes in sleep or lack of sleep
5. Poor posture
6. Physical activities, such as exercise
6. Skipped meals
8. Coughing, sneezing, blowing of the nose, straining (such as when having a bowel movement), laughing, or crying vigorously.
Primary headache typically isn't dangerous, but they can be very painful and disrupt our day-to-day life.

SECONDARY HEADACHE: An underlying medical condition causes secondary headaches. They are considered a symptom or signs of a condition.
*Types of secondary that are not necessarily dangerous and resolve once the underlying condition is treated include:
1. Dehydrated headache
2. Sinus headache
3. Medication overuse headache

*Types of secondary headaches that can be a sign of a serious or potentially life-threatening condition include:
1. Spinal headache: Spinal headache is an intense headache that occurs when spinal fluid leaks out of the membrane covering the spinal cord usually after a spinal tap.
2. Thunderclap headache: This is an extremely painful headache that comes on suddenly like a clap of thunder. This type of headache reaches its most intense pain within one minute and lasts at least four minutes, it can be a sign of Head injury, Brain bleed
Reversible Cerebral Vasoconstriction Syndrome, A sudden severe rise in blood pressure.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A HEADACHE & MIGRAINE
A migraine is a type of primary headache, it is a common neurological condition that causes a variety of symptoms most notably a throbbing headache on one side of the head.

ARE HEADACHES HEREDITARY?
Headaches tend to run in families, especially migraine. Children who have migraines usually have at least one biological parents who also experience them.

* Headaches can also be triggered by environmental factors shared in a family's household such as:
* Eating certain foods or ingredients like caffeine, alcohol, fermented foods
* Exposure to allergies
* Secondhand smoke
* String odors from household chemicals or perfumes.

HOW IS A HEADACHE TREATED?
Treatment for headaches depends on the type.
One of the most crucial aspects of treating primary headaches is fighting out the triggers, once you know your triggers, your healthcare provider can tailor treatment for you. NOTE: Not every headache requires medication.

HOW TO PREVENT HEADACHE
The key to preventing headaches is figuring out what triggers them, triggers are very specific to each person. For example, you may find that strong scents set you off, avoiding perfumes and scented products can make a big difference in how many headaches you have. The same goes for other common triggers like troublesome food, lack of sleep, and poor posture.

I believe we've gained a lot about HEADACHES from this write-up, don't forget HEALTH IS WEALTH🥰

We all know how important sleep is to our body and the effects of not having a good sleep, today I'll be discussing some tips to fight a sleepless night:

*Increase bright light exposure during the day:
Your body has a natural time keeping clock known as your circadian thyme, it affects your brain, body and hormones, helping you stay awake and telling your body when it's time to sleep, it improves day time energy as well as nighttime sleep quality and duration, it also reduced the time it took to fall asleep by 83%.

*Reduces blue light exposure:
Exposure to light during the day is beneficial but nighttime light exposure has the opposite effect. Blue light tricks your body into thinking it's daytime.

*Don't consume caffeine late in the day :
Caffeine significantly worsen sleep quality, especially if you drink large amounts in the late afternoon or evening.

*Reduce irregular or long daytime naps :
Long daytime or irregular daytime naps may impair sleep quality, sleeping in the daytime can confuse your internal clock, meaning that you may struggle to sleep at nigh, if possible try to wake up naturally at a similar time everyday.

*Try to sleep and wake at consistent times:
It aid long term quality.

*Taka a melatonin supplement :
Melatonin is key sleep hormone that tells your brain when it's time to relax and head to bed. It is an easy way to improve sleep quality and fall asleep faster. Take 1-5mg around 30-60minutes before heading to bed improve sleep quality and energy the next day.

*Don't drink alcohol:
Avoid alcohol before bed, as it can reduce nighttime melatonin production and lead to disrupted sleep patterns.

*Optimize your bedroom:
Optimize your bedroom by eliminating external noise, light and artificial lights from devices. Make sure your bedroom is a quiet, relaxing, clean and enjoyable place.

*Set your bedroom temperature:
Body and bedroom temperature can also profoundly affect sleep quality. Test different temperatures to find out which is most comfortable for you(around 70F(20C))is best for most people.

*Don't eat late in the evening:
Consuming a larger meal before bed can lead to poor sleep and hormone disruption.

*Relax and clean your mind in the evening:
Relaxation techniques before bed including hot bath, relaxing massage, listening to relaxing music and meditation may help you fall asleep

*Get a comfortable bed, mattress and pillow:
Your bed, mattress and pillow can affect sleep quality and joint or back pain , try to buy a high quality bedding.

*Exercise regularly:
Regular exercise during daylight hours is one of the best ways to ensure a good night's sleep in people with severe insomnia, exercise offered more benefits than most drugs.

If you care about your health, make sleep a top priority
