HAPPY ESU ODARA DAY!

Aboru Aboye, hello everyone and happy Esu Is Not Satan day.

Èṣù Òdàrà is one of the foremost Òrìṣàs in Yorùbáland. He is not Satan, nor a bearer of negativity. Rather, Èṣù is the divine messenger, custodian of justice, and balance. His role is to neutralise negativity and open the path for positivity according to one’s destiny path and character.

This truth is revealed in Odù Ifá Osa Ogbe popularly known as Osa Esu. In one of the verses of this great Odu Ifa. Orunmila was coming down from the heavenly realm (spirit realm) to the house of a king named Olufe Akanlubebe on earth. Before his journey, Orunmila went to meet Èṣù and with all boldness he informed him of his mission- to work for the king, achieve greatness, and succeed
in all his endeavours. Orunmila asked Èṣù for all-round goodness, and Èṣù agreed to help him.

Before Orunmila arrived, Èṣù went ahead to the king’s house and informed Olufe Akanlubebe of Orunmila’s coming, he told him
that Orunmila was the answer to his prayers. He also told Olufe to give Orunmila great wealth and all round goodness if Orunmila succeeded in solving all his problems. When Orunmila got to earth, he went directly to Olufe’s house and he was welcomed joyfully. Orunmila solved all Olufe’s problems and he was greatly rewarded with wealth, horses and beautiful wives who gave him wonderful children. As a result, Orunmila prospered, and his works flourished.

This Odù teaches us clearly that Èṣù brings positivity, alignment, and success, not negativity. Èṣù does not destroy destiny; he delivers it.

Èṣù Òdàrà is not Satan. He is truth at the crossroads.

Ogunda on the right and Ogbe on the left is Ogunda Ogbe alias Ogundabede. It is the odu of thieves and liars. So the odu is saluted Olori ole! Chief of thieves!
The tortoise (Alabahun or Ijapa) is the animal character in Yoruba folklore that makes a living by deceiving, tricking and manipulating others. So, the odu is also that of Alabahun the trickster. The tortoise (Alabahun) is always going to have another one on you after the last time!

It is Ifa who says in Ose Otura, whenever you wake up early in the morning, you must always pray before doing anything. What is practical here is that as priest in this tradition it is necessary for us to genuflect and give honor to our shrines which hold the essence of our deities. What is also critical of us as priest and devotees is to learn the power of prayer.

On one hand doesn't matter who talks about you negatively when you have prayed early in the morning for the protection of Ifa? No, it doesn't matter who has thrown witchcraft when you have prayed early in the morning to Ifa?

When you don't have enough money to make it, have you ever known, really known Ifa, that when you pray and commit even the sacrifice of water, your prayers do not fall on empty space...

When we allow our faith and trust in Olodumare and Ifa to walk in front of us, we learn a valued lesson of love and faith are action words that Orisa use to heal our lives and they manifest our cries to them.

Ifa assures you that you will succeed in life. It is what you open your mouth to say in form of prayers that the Divinities will uphold.

Those unfortune and misguide people who plan to bring harm to you or cheat you or even lie on you will be humiliated as they attempted to humiliate you. Pray for them in the words of, "Let my enemies fight each other and not me." Those who continuously through jealousy of the things you do, or what are you gifts of spirit you have attempt to besmudge your name, or cheated you will pay for it.

Nobody can point evil fingers at you without paying dearly for it. But remember if you too go astray and become like your detractors will find the same spiritual force of Ifa at your back. Do what is good not just what is right.
