DR. AKABUIKE COMMENDS GOVERNOR SOLUDO FOR REVITALISING GRASSROOTS SPORTS IN ANAMBRA STATE

The Chief Medical Director of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka, Hon. Dr. Joe Akabuike has commended the Executive Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, for the reintroduction and revival of grassroots sports through the Anambra Sports Solution Initiative.

Dr. Akabuike gave the commendation during the grand finale of the tournament, which was held in Awka City Stadium today, 27th June 2025. The event was graced by the Governor himself, top government functionaries, and stakeholders in the sports sector. The event marked a significant milestone in Governor Soludo’s youth engagement and development agenda, aimed at identifying and nurturing talent across the state.

It was a moment of pride and nostalgia for Dr. Akabuike as he witnessed Community High School, Nanka, his hometown school, emerged champions in both the under-14 male and female football categories. Their victory not only brought glory to the community but also stirred personal memories for Dr. Akabuike, who reflected on his days as an exceptional athlete.

Recalling his youthful exploits in sports, Dr. Akabuike narrated how he was once a dominant figure in primary and secondary school athletics. As a student of St. Peter’s Secondary School, Achina, he was famed as the fastest runner in Aguata Local Government, holding unbeaten records in track events. His passion for sports, he said, has remained undiminished over the years.

Moved by the performance and determination of the young athletes, Dr. Akabuike generously offered both financial and moral support to the students from Community High School, Nanka. He encouraged them to remain focused and disciplined, noting that sports can serve not only as a tool for physical well-being but also as a platform for national and international opportunities.

He lauded Governor Soludo for the far-reaching vision of the Anambra Sports Solution Initiative, describing it as a bold and intelligent step toward youth empowerment, social development, and talent discovery. He urged other leaders and communities to support and replicate such initiatives that bring lasting impact to the youth at the grassroots level.

Dr. Akabuike reaffirmed his continuous support for youth-centered programs and pledged to stand behind efforts aimed at building a healthier, stronger, and more united Anambra through sports and other developmental platforms.

DR. AKABUIKE REVEALS THE TRUTH ABOUT CEASAREAN SECTION AS HE WISHES EVERYONE A FAVOURABLE NEW MONTH.

As we joyfully step into the month of July, the Chief Medical Director of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka, Hon. Dr. Joe Akabuike has extended his warmest greetings and heartfelt wishes to everyone. He prayed that your wishes may find favour in the sight of God and be fulfilled. He wished divine favour to all individuals, families, and communities.

In a reflective note, Dr. Akabuike shared a brief historical insight into the name “July,” which was named in honour of the Roman emperor, Julius Caesar. He emphasized that beyond his political and military legacy, Julius Caesar is historically linked to one of the most important procedures in obstetric care, the Cesarean section, which is a lifesaving surgical method of delivering babies when natural birth poses risks to the mother or the child.

Dr. Akabuike used the opportunity to demystify the myths and misconceptions surrounding cesarean operations. He urged the public, especially expectant mothers and their families, to see the cesarean section as a medically sound and safe option for childbirth when necessary. He firmly stated that there is absolutely nothing evil or unnatural about undergoing a cesarean delivery. According to him, the priority should always be the health and safety of both the mother and the baby.

He cautioned against the rising influence of certain religious teachings that mislead pregnant women into rejecting medical advice in the name of “faith.” In particular, he decried the deceptive interpretation that giving birth “like the Hebrew women” excludes the possibility of a cesarean section. For him, “safe delivery, whether through natural birth or cesarean section, is what truly matters in the sight of God." He added that God has given humanity knowledge and skill in medicine to preserve life, and this divine gift should not be neglected.

Dr. Akabuike reassured the public that Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka remains fully equipped with modern facilities and skilled personnel to provide high-quality maternal and child healthcare. He urged pregnant women to take advantage of the hospital’s services for antenatal care, delivery, and postnatal support.
