Assisted Reproduction Technology (ART) Overview

ART refers to medical procedures used primarily to address infertility.

​Key Facts:

​This are collection of procedures that involve surgically removing eggs from a woman's ovaries and combining them with s***m in a lab to create an embryo.
​The most common and effective type of ART is In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).

​Process Steps (in general):

1. ​Stimulation: The woman takes medication to stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple eggs.

2. ​Retrieval: Eggs are surgically retrieved from the ovaries.

3. ​Fertilization: Eggs are mixed with s***m in the laboratory or a single s***m is injected into an egg, called Intracytoplasmic s***m injection (ICSI).

4. ​Embryo Transfer: One or more resulting embryos are placed into the woman's uterus.
