Applications are open for the IGH Bacterial Genomic Sequencing Workshop 2025!

From November 5–14, 2025, this hybrid (onsite and remote) workshop will provide hands-on training in bacterial genome sequencing and analysis, helping participants build essential skills for research and public health impact.

The workshop is open to researchers, graduate students, lab scientists, and public health professionals in related fields.

A new study from our scientists' research shows genotype II, the same deadly strain behind the global pig pandemic, is now driving outbreaks locally.

🔎 Key facts:

✅ Found in ALL pigs during outbreaks (0% in quiet periods)

✅ Spread fueled by poor farm hygiene, unsafe carcass disposal & weak biosecurity

✅ No evidence in ticks or “silent carriers”

✅ Stronger biosecurity + farmer training = fewer outbreaks

📌 Protecting pigs = protecting livelihoods.
