Top Healthier Traditional Swallows (Ranked from Healthiest)
These are the more natural, less processed options with generally lower calories (per ~100g cooked) and better fiber/nutrient profiles:

1. AMALA (Yam flour / Elubo) — Often considered one of the best overall healthy choices
Very low calories (around 89–150 kcal per 100g, depending on preparation).
Higher in fiber than many cassava-based ones and better for digestion and feeling full longer.
More natural protein than pure cassava swallows.
Blood sugar-friendly when eaten in moderation (especially good with vegetable-heavy soups like ewedu or gbegiri).
And Great if you're watching weight or want something light.

2. FUFU / AKPU (Cassava-based, fermented) and Very close second, sometimes ranked #1
Low calories (around 140–150 kcal per 100g).
Fermentation adds gut health benefits (probiotics).
Simple and natural with minimal processing in traditional form. And Excellent for general health and weight control.

3. POUNDED YAM(Iyan)
Around 100–260 kcal per 100g (varies by source/prep).
More protein and nutrients than processed cassava options.
Less processed → retains more natural fiber.
→ Very popular and versatile, but slightly higher calories than amala/fufu in some comparisons.

4. EBA (Garri)
Higher calories (around 250–360 kcal per 100g, white eba lower than yellow).
Still okay in small portions, especially if fermented garri is used.
→ Not the top choice for strict weight loss, but fine occasionally.
