❇️ Imagine a tiny spiral-shaped bacterium that can survive in one of the harshest environments of the human body—the acidic stomach. That’s Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori). Discovered in the 1980s, this microbe changed the way doctors understood stomach ulcers and gastritis. Instead of stress or spicy food being the main culprits, it turned out that this resilient bacterium was behind many cases.

Today, H. pylori is one of the most common chronic infections worldwide, quietly living in the stomach of more than half the global population—sometimes harmless, but in other cases, leading to ulcers, gastritis, and even gastric cancer.

✅ H. pylori Management:

▶️ Indications for Testing
→ Peptic ulcer disease (gastric or duodenal)
→ Gastric MALT lymphoma
→ Unexplained iron deficiency anemia
→ Dyspepsia: Testing is indicated for uncomplicated dyspepsia without alarm symptoms after a trial of PPI.
→ Family history of gastric cancer

▶️ Diagnostic Tests
→ Urea breath test (most accurate non-invasive)
→ Stool antigen test
→ Endoscopic biopsy with rapid urease test (gold standard if endoscopy done)
→ Serology: NOT useful for confirming eradication
→ PPI washout: Stop PPIs for 2 weeks before urea breath or stool antigen testing to avoid false negatives.

▶️ First-Line Treatment (14 days)
Bismuth Quadruple Therapy
→ PPI (e.g., omeprazole)
→ Bismuth subsalicylate
→ Metronidazole
→ Tetracycline

OR

Clarithromycin Triple Therapy (if no macrolide resistance)
→ PPI
→ Clarithromycin
→ Amoxicillin (or metronidazole if penicillin allergy)

▶️ Second-Line/Rescue Therapy
→ Levofloxacin-based triple therapy
→ Tailor regimen based on antibiotic resistance or previous exposure

▶️ Confirm Eradication
→ Urea breath test or stool antigen test ≥ 4 weeks after therapy, and ≥ 2 weeks off PPI
→ Not serology (remains positive long-term)

Topic 011📖:
The PHARMACEUTICAL/MEDICINAL CHEMISTRY IN THE PHARMACY CURRICULUM.🧪💊📚

It’s obvious... that many people think pharmacy students only study the pharmacology of drugs, that is:
💊 Pharmacological classes of drugs
💊 Pharmacodynamics of drugs
💊 Pharmacokinetics of drugs
💊 Clinical indications
💊 Contraindications
💊 Side effects
💊 Adverse effects
💊 Drug resistance
💊 Drugs interactions...etc

However, PHARMACY is beyond that. And you should know that PHARMACOLOGY is just one among key aspects of Pharmacy. No doubt... pharmacology is one of the many key core components of pharmacy education.💊📚

Alright...😄 Let's take a look into another one very important core component of PHARMACY, which is Pharmaceutical/Medicinal Chemistry.🧪🩺

🔥Pharmaceutical/Medicinal Chemistry provides pharmacy students with a deep knowledge and understanding of drugs at the molecular level, including their interactions with biological systems and other compounds. It provides comprehensive knowledge in:
- Drug synthesis and design
- Drug metabolism and mechanisms of action
- Drug Safety and Toxicity
- Drug purity and stability
- Drug discovery & development
- Drug effectiveness
- Drug analysis
- Structure-activity relationships (SAR)

One amazing aspect of this knowledge of medicinal chemistry is that a pharmacy students with this knowledge can look at the molecular structure of the drugs and identify:
🔎 Which part of the drug molecule causes the therapeutic effect.
🔎 Which part may lead to side effects.
🔎 Which region binds to receptors.
🔎 Which portion of drug get metabolized during metabolism.
🔎 Which metabolite drug yield after metabolism.
🔎 Which part of drug molecule is responsible for its stability in acidic or basic medium.
🔎 Which part makes the entire drug molecule polar or non polar.
Etc....

YES Sure...📌 the NOBILITY only goes to the PHARMACY PROFESSION and its Noble students alone, always and forever.🥼📚

Man with back pain finds out he has 3 kidneys !!!

To help find out the cause of the patients severe back pain, doctors at a Hospital in São Paulo, Brazil, performed a CT scan to evaluate the area, according to a report of the case, in the New England Journal of Medicine.

They couldn't help but notice that the patient had an unusual anatomical feature. Instead of the usual two kidneys seen in a typical person, the man had three: a normal-looking kidney on his left side and two fused kidneys located near the pelvis, the report said.

Supernumerary kidneys, also known as accessory kidneys, are a rare, with fewer than 100 cases reported in the medical literature. The condition is thought to arise during embryonic development, when a structure that typically forms a single kidney splits in two.

Cleanroom Classification in Pharma.
A cleanroom is a room in which viable & non viable particle count, temperature, humidity & differential pressure is maintained within standard and defined ranges. In this article you will learn all about the cleanroom classification in pharma.

Cleaning is a strict requirement for cleanrooms and it is necessary to maintain their defined cleaning level all the time.Cleanrooms play a critical role in the manufacturing of pharmaceutical products.

Cleanroom classification in pharma is based on the size of particles and the number of particles per cubic meter of air.
There are specified limits of particle count, microbial counts and air changes for the cleanrooms.
Cleanroom Classification In Pharma

Cleanroom classification in pharma is per following standards,

ISO 14644-1
Federal Standards (FS 209)
European Standards
Classification of cleanrooms in pharmaceutical industries
According to ISO 14644-1
Classification of cleanrooms ap per ISO 14644-1 is as follows

ISO 1
ISO 2
ISO 3
ISO 4
ISO 5
ISO 6
ISO 7
ISO 8
ISO 9

In ISO there are 9 cleanroom classes, ISO 1 to IOS 9.ISO 1 is the cleanest from all classes of ISO and ISO 9 is least clean or dirtiest in all ISO classes but cleaning level of ISO 9 is superior than a regular room. In pharmaceutical Industries following ISO, classes are generally required

ISO 5
ISO 6
ISO 7
ISO 8
According to FS 209
According to the federal standard, FS 209 Cleanrooms are classified as,

Class100
Class1000
Class 10,000
Class100,000

According To The EU GMP

Grade A
Grade B
Grade C
Grade D

FS 209 is replaced by...
