My own take after seeing Monica the movie đĽ đż
Family entitlement is a quiet weight many people carry but rarely talk about.
Sometimes, the moment you start doing well even just a little better than before everything changes. The same people who once clapped for your small wins begin to see you as a solution to all their problems. Your hard work becomes their expectation. Your struggle becomes invisible. And your success? It turns into a responsibility you never agreed to.
It starts smallâŚ
âJust help me with this.â
âYou know youâre the one doing well now.â
âDonât forget where youâre coming from.â
Before you realize it, your peace is gone. Youâre constantly giving, constantly explaining, constantly feeling guilty for wanting to breathe. You begin to live for everyone else, while slowly losing yourself.
The painful part is, it doesnât always come with gratitude. Sometimes it comes with pressure, comparison, even anger when you canât meet their demands. And that kind of emotional burden⌠it can drain you deeply. It can lead to anxiety, depression, burnout. It can make someone who once had dreams start feeling trapped in their own life.
Family is meant to be a place of support, not silent pressure. Love should not feel like a debt youâre forever trying to repay.
Because when giving becomes forced, when expectations replace understanding, it doesnât just hurt it can slowly break a person from the inside.
And sometimes⌠it doesnât just wound. It destroys.
