✨ 429 Lives Brighter in Just 5 Days! ✨

What an incredible week it's been at Niger Foundation Hospital! We’re thrilled to share that 429 free cataract surgeries were successfully carried out over the past 5 days — that’s 429 clearer visions, brighter faces, and transformed lives! 👁️💫

This amazing feat was made possible through the beautiful collaboration between: 🔹 Fundación Elena Barraquer, whose skilled surgeons and medical team flew in with expertise and heart.
🔹 GB Foods, who not only sponsored the entire mission but also handled logistics like pros!
🔹 And of course, our very own hospital, which carried out pre-screenings, patient selection, hosted the surgeries, and brought our A-game in coordinating it all!

We’re incredibly proud of our dedicated staff who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure everything ran smoothly. 💪🏽🩺❤️

To everyone involved — thank you for helping restore sight and bring hope to hundreds of families. This is what true impact looks like.

Here’s to more partnerships, more healing, and more reasons to smile! 😄🌍

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
In 2024, more than 360,000 people will be diagnosed with breast cancer. But there is hope. Advancements in early detection methods and support continue to increase the chances of survival. When caught in its earliest, localized stages, the 5-year relative survival rate of breast cancer is 99%.

Regular physical breast examinations (by professionals and self examination) and mammograms significantly impact breast cancer detection and survival. Mammograms can detect breast cancer up to 2-3 years before symptoms appear and can detect 87-95% of breast cancers.

Every 25th September, Pharmacists worldwide come out en masse to celebrate themselves and the profession. It's also a day we sieze the opportunity to educate the populace about Pharmacy and what Pharmacists do. The theme for World Pharmacist Day 2024 is Pharmacists: Meeting Global Health Needs. At Niger Foundation Hospital and Diagnostic Centre, we began the celebrations with Holy Mass. Afterwards we had a health talk and sensitisation of the patient and staff on the roles of the Pharmacist and how the Pharmacist aids in meeting global health needs.
We also carried out free Hepatitis B screening for staff and patients.
It was a memorable experience.
Many thanks to all our partners and our colleagues for the support.

415 cataract surgeries done free of charge in the space of 1 week! Let that settle in.

And its all about the people. In the first place, the 415 lives that have been radically impacted for good with vision restoration.

But behind it were people who made incredible efforts:

The team from Fundacion Elena Barraquer. Surgeons and volunteers for their skill, professionalism and big hearts.

GB Foods Nigeria who made it happen. A company with immense social conscience and generosity.
..And we here at NFH, the hosts. Our staff who put in the effort in the screening and post-op management. Who provided support and logistics throughout the entire process. A lot of extra effort done with a smile. Massive thanks Team! Well done.

NIGER FOUNDATION HOSPITAL EYE CLINIC
Incredible days!

3 weeks of intensive screening as preparation for our collaboration with Fundación Elena Barraquer /The Elena Barraquer Foundation Inc. and GB FOODS NIGERIA to provide free cataract surgeries for 400 persons. It was a lot of work, but the satisfying type 😅

850 patients (yes 850!) from all walks of life were screened during the exercise, which included counseling on Eye Health, with the goal of selecting patients who need and will benefit from the cataract surgeries that will be done free of all cost.

It was an incredible experience and wonderful opportunity to provide an immensely impactful contribution to our community. We are extremely happy to be part of this very special initiative.
