_*Desmodium gangeticum (L.) DC*_
This is commonly known as Shalparni has been used for treating various diseases. Decoctions of root and leaf, root powder and leaf juice of D. gangeticum are used as tonics, febrifuge, digestive, antiemetic, astringent, anti-asthmatic, antidiarrhoeal and anti-inflammatory agents in traditional medicinal practices. D. Gangeticum leaves and roots are rich in flavonoids, alkaloids, terpenoids, tannins, phenols, carbohydrates, steroids, phenylpropanoids, pterocarpans, coumarins, and volatile oil. Among the isolated compounds, major bio-active constituents are alkaloids, flavonoids and pterocarpans. All these phytochemicals are widely distributed in various parts of D. gangeticum. The other active constituents like desmodin, hordenine and gangetin are largely responsible for its broad spectrum of therapeutic potentiality. Desmodin belongs to the class of pterocarpans and is reported to have antifungal and antibacterial activities.

This is also known as bitter kola. It is a type of nut that is native to west Africa. It is used in treatment of numerous diseases, including gastric disorders, asthma, bronchial diseases, cough, fever, malaria, antibacterial, antiviral and also used to induce a stimulating and aphrodisiac effect. Some of the first recipes for Coca-Cola were made using the extract of the bitter kola plant. Though the company hasnβt used actual kola to flavor their sodas in years, the name remains a reminder of the unusual plant that inspired the iconic drink. Bitter kola, also known as bitter cola or Garcinia Kola, is a plant found in Central and Western Africa that has long been valued for its medicinal properties.
