When Last Did You Visit Yourself?

Have you ever paused to ask:
“How am I really doing?”
Not work-wise… not financially…
But me—my body, my mind, my relationships?

It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle. We say we’re working hard for “a better life”…
But in the process, we quietly trade away the very things that make life better.

We sacrifice sleep.
We skip proper meals.
We push through exhaustion.
We miss out on family time… again.
We put our own well-being on hold.

All for the promise of “one day” when we’ll finally rest and enjoy it all.
But the hard truth is—sometimes, by the time we slow down… it’s too late.

Our health starts to fail.
Our loved ones have drifted away or grown older.
The precious moments we thought we could save for later… are already gone.

💔 This isn’t to scare you. It’s a wake-up call.
✅ A call to visit yourself today.
✅ To check in.
✅ To care for your body.
✅ To nurture your relationships.
✅ To remember that YOU matter—right now.

Because life isn’t just about making a living…
It’s about making meaning.

👉 So please—pause.
👉🏻 Rest.
👉🏻 Eat well.
👉🏻 Laugh.
👉🏻 Be present.
Don’t lose yourself while trying to build a life. Because you are the most important part of that life.

What’s one small way you’ll “visit yourself” this week?

Let’s talk in the comments. Your reminder might be the one someone else needs too.

Someone shared this recipe of this red fufu on a platform I belong to, and I tried it out. It came out well.
This swallow can also encourage children who are picky eaters to eat because of the colour.

Let me share it with you.

INGREDIENTS:
🔸 1 unripe plantain

🔸 1 medium-sized beetroot

🔸 1 cup of oat flour

DIRECTION:

🔸 Wash and peel the plantain and beetroot.

🔸 Dice and blend with little water until smooth.

🔸 Pour it in a pot on low heat. Stir and add the oat flour. Stir to mix it in. Cover the pot and leave for 5 minutes.

🔸Stir, and it’s ready.

🔸 Serve with the soup of your choice.

So if you are tired of your regular eba, amala, try something different and healthy too.

Go make yours👍🏼.

Lunch was simple but nourishing — sweet potatoes, fish, and a mix of veggies (lettuce, onions, garlic, spring onions).

This is your gentle reminder:
Have you had your portion of vegetables today? 🥬💚

Even just one serving makes a difference for your body — supporting your digestion, energy, and immunity.

✅ Tip: Add veggies to what you’re already eating — like tossing some greens into your rice, beans, egg sauce, or stew.

✅ Or snack on cucumbers, carrots, or garden egg.

You don’t have to make it complicated — just make it count.
Your body will thank you. 💚

Here is something most people get wrong.

Healthy living isn’t a 2-week diet, a detox tea, or a “perfect” gym routine.

It’s not about giving up your favorite foods or turning your life upside down.

And it’s definitely not something you have to get right all at once.

👉 Healthy living is a JOURNEY — built one small, doable step at a time.

So many people feel overwhelmed because they think they have to do everything right from the start. But that’s not how it works.

The real magic?
Making small changes that fit your life — and turning those changes into habits.

Here’s what realistic healthy living can look like:

✅ Starting your day with 1 or 2 cups of water before breakfast.

✅ Dancing for 10 minutes instead of forcing a workout you don’t like.

✅ Choosing kindness towards yourself- even on tough days.

✅ Swapping one sugary drink for water / vegetable juice / tea during the day.

✅ Going to bed a bit earlier just twice a week.

✅ Taking deep breaths when things get tense.

✅ Preparing one nourishing meal ahead so you’re not stuck with unhealthy choices.

None of these are “perfect” — but they are powerful.
Because they are sustainable. And they’re yours.

You don’t need to copy someone else’s routine.
Find what works for you, do it consistently, and let the habits build.

Over time, these little steps create the lifestyle you’ve been hoping for — without the pressure, without the guilt, and without needing to be perfect.

💬 What’s one small change you’re ready to try this week?

Maybe it’s walking more, drinking more water, or sleeping earlier.
Share in the comments — you never know who you might inspire. 💚

Let’s make wellness feel possible again — one real step at a time.

Yet… month after month, nothing happens.

I know how painful that feels.
And I want you to know this: you’re not alone, and it’s not your fault.

What many women don’t realize is that excess weight can silently interfere with your fertility—from your hormones to your egg quality, even how your womb receives a baby.

“A New Discovery That Made My Day 🌿💜”

I saw something unique today, and I couldn’t stop smiling.

You see, fruits and vegetables always catch my eye—especially the ones I’ve never seen before. I was walking past a mallam’s fruit and veg stand when this deep purple leaf stopped me in my tracks. Gorgeous. Bold. Unfamiliar.

Curious, I asked for the name. He shrugged. “I don’t know o.”
I laughed and said, “How can you not know what you’re selling?” 😂
Thankfully, Google Lens came to the rescue.

Turns out it’s called garden orache—also known as red orache, mountain spinach, or French spinach. Ever heard of it?

Of course, I bought it immediately—to add to my salad and smoothie. I mean… purple leaves? That’s rare! The only other purple veg I usually see around is cabbage.

My research shows this vegetable is a powerhouse of vitamins A and C, and it also provides calcium, iron, and magnesium. These help to boost immune function, help prevent iron deficiency anaemia, help with nerve and muscle function, and promote digestive health due to its fibre content.

This little adventure reminded me of something I deeply believe:
Eating a variety of colourful fruits and vegetables (“eating the rainbow”) gives your body a wide range of powerful nutrients—especially phytonutrients that protect and heal.

So I’m curious:
🟣 Are you the type who loves to try new foods?
🌈 Do you get excited by colourful plates like I do?
🥗 Or are you stuck in a food routine that could use a little spark?

Trying something new might seem small, but it’s one of the easiest ways to open the door to better health—one colourful bite at a time.

Have you seen this leaf before? Would you try it?

To uncover what’s been holding you back—and how we can fix it together, the healthy way.

“One day you will wake up, and there won’t be any more time to do the things you have always wanted. Do it now.” – Paulo Coelho

I totally agree.

Because one day…
You’ll wake up and realize the “tomorrow” you were waiting for is gone.

That dream job you wanted to pursue?
That healthy body you kept saying you’d work on “when things settle down”?
That relationship you meant to fix?
That passion you kept pushing to the side because “life got in the way”?

Time doesn’t wait. And neither does life.

We think we have time—
Time to eat better later,
Time to mend relationships later,
Time to chase purpose later,
Time to choose ourselves—later.

But later becomes next week…
Next week becomes next year…
And eventually, the window closes.

Here’s the truth:
Every single day is a blank page.
And what you write on it is entirely up to you.

Want to feel better in your body?
Start by taking a walk today. Add one more veggie to your plate.
Stop waiting for the “perfect plan.”

Want to reconnect with someone?
Send that message. Make the call. Say what’s been sitting on your heart.

Want a different career or to finally follow your passion?
Take the first step. Learn the skill. Sign up. Start small. But start.

Because this life you’re living now is shaping the future you.
Not someday.
Not when it’s convenient.
Now.

You don’t need a new year. You don’t need everything figured out.
You just need to stop putting your life on pause.

You are not too old.
You are not too late.
And you are not stuck—unless you choose to stay there.

✅ Start creating the future you dream of, one intentional day at a time.
Because the only real moment you have is this one. And it’s more than enough to begin.

💬 Tell me—what’s one thing you’ve been putting off that your future self will thank you for starting today?

This wasn’t me 6 or 7 years ago.

Eating fruits and vegetables every single day? I would try for a few days, fall off, start again… and repeat.

But I kept at it—gradually. One fruit here. A salad there. Before I knew it, it became a habit… then a lifestyle.

Now, it feels strange not to have my fruits or vegetables. Something just feels off when I don’t.

This journey taught me something powerful:

👉🏽 Success doesn’t happen by chance. You have to be intentional.

Whether it’s your health, your mindset, your relationships, or your goals—if you want to grow, you have to choose it every single day.

You might slip. You might get discouraged. And that’s okay.

What matters is your intention to keep showing up, even after a setback.
I’ve been there. I understand how hard it can feel. But trust me—with intention and consistency, change becomes your new normal.

So, if you’re on a journey right now, don’t give up.
Start small. Stay intentional.

And soon, you’ll look back and be amazed at how far you’ve come. 💚

👉🏽 What’s one area in your life where you’re ready to be more intentional?

Share with me in the comments. I would love to cheer you on!

I was invited to talk to primary school pupils at Blooming Greens school yesterday about my career as a doctor. It was their career day.

It was a great privilege to talk to young minds (junior and senior classes).
It was an interactive session, and they made brilliant contributions.

As I was concluding, I left them with 6 things they needed to do to grow into a healthy doctor to be able to care for others. These also apply to all adults too.

Those six things are the pillars of lifestyle medicine, which the acronym is 𝗗𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗠𝗦:

𝗗 (𝗗𝗶𝗲𝘁): Ensuring they eat healthy foods, especially lots of fruits and vegetables.

𝗥 (𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀): they need to be kind and make good friends. They should be ready to share and talk nicely to others.

𝗘 (𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲): they need to exercise and move their body daily.

𝗔 (𝗔𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸𝘆 𝗦𝘂𝗯𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀): they need to avoid things that will be damaging to their body, such as alcohol, smoking, and taking too much of sugary drinks and snacks.

𝗠 (𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀/𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁): they should talk to people they trust, like their parents, when they are sad or worried.

𝗦 (𝗦𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗽): they need to sleep well and not stay awake watching TV. Immediately I mentioned this point, their head teacher also reckoned with it.

It was fun. Incorporating healthy habits in young minds now is very important. My reasons:

✅️ Children grow into adults. The habits they learn today will shape the kind of adults they become.

✅️ They will grow to become patents. Children who practice healthy habits today are more likely to teach them to their children tomorrow. This means future families will be healthier and happier.

✅️ By teaching healthy habits early, we can prevent many of the illnesses before they begin.

✅️ Healthy minds build a better future. They are better able to learn, dream big, and help others - making the world a better place.

What healthy habits do you wish you learned earlier in life?
Please share.
