My night shift face. I have come a long way from "the night is dark and full of terrors" to "night holds no terrors for me sleeping under God's wings" How do you find night shifts?👇🏾

Dear IMGs, this quote is as simple as it is profound: Just because you can doesn’t mean you should.

That is, just because you can by virtue of knowledge or your expertise in carrying out your tasks doesn’t mean you should disregard the hospital or the system guidelines, especially if doing so will give you a bad review or affect your medical license.

I hope this helps. Please share your experience if you’ve ever been in this situation.

In order to socialize, I've had to step outside my comfort zone a lot.
As a result, I've built better relationships with colleagues, asked the right questions, and communicated my ideas better.

It would be great if you could connect with me too so you can have a smooth transition to the UK and thrive better in the NHS.Click the link in bio to see all the useful resources I have for you.

Dear IMGs, I want you to know, that your hard earned knowledge is not wasted. However, there are guidelines in the UK, so you'll have to reign it in.

I've had a similar experience in my first week in the UK where I had to follow hospital guidelines even though I knew what to do based on my existing knowledge.

Here's what to do if you find yourself in this situation:

✔️Be bold enough to trust your experience counts and is part of the reason you got the job.

✔️Be wise enough to combine that hard won knowledge with the new knowledge you acquire.
